Não foi a Espanha. Quem derrotou os argentinos foi o Egito, quando através do seu futebol de alto nível, expôs ao mundo a roubalheira da FIFA a ponto de a crise gerada após esse jogo obrigar eles a abortar os planos e contentá-la com o 2ª lugar.
