Interesting idea by @morgo

I think it’s doable but don’t think it’s as simple as taking multiple views from a single transaction. IIRC, handling the deletes makes it tricky.
Perhaps easier to use a transaction per B-tree sub-tree. Once a sub-tree scan completes delete the read view.

Replying to @morgo
@morgo before I read the post I guess that #1 SHOULD BE foreign key support and that's it, lol.
A conversation with somebody shows that "suppose a RELATIONAL database that doesn't support foreign key, it makes the word 'RELATIONAL' a JOKE.".
天大的笑话😅

Since #TiDB is #MySQL compatible, can we use MySQL's bug history to improve the quality of TiDB?🤔🕵️♂️🕵️♀️
The answer is YES and the results are rewarding: 154 bugs in 4 months and improved test coverage.

⚡️ Database Tip
Deleting an unused index is still a risky operation: If you were wrong (and it is still needed) the database will become slow. Instead of deleting, you can make the index invisible first and make it visible again in a second if you still need it.

⚡️ Database Tip
Sometimes you have very complex queries involving multiple calculation steps. Instead of nesting queries or doing it in application code you can use Common Table Expressions (CTE) to refine your data in every step and even reuse former steps.

⚡️ Database Tip
I see JSON columns used too much or seldom. But they can greatly simply your schema and queries:
👉 Store most values in normal columns
👉 Use json for values which would be empty most of the time
👉 Don't store references to other tables
👉 Avoid deeply nesting
