i stayed up until 1:30 last night debating mathematical nominalism vs platonism (which i think i won on points) but there's NO WAY i am repeating the experience tonight. i am going to bed before 11 even if a rabid pack of Pythagoreans are braying outside my door.

I'm 2/3rds of the way in. Truly incredible essay.
Those who confidently proclaim mathematics is a science should remember it was basically a disaster zone of conflicting cults for the better part of 2000 years.
So if anyone comes at me with a 20gb Lean file I do not for a single moment hesitate to say "This isn't a proof of anything by any reasonable standards except those set by mathematicians at most 100 years old, so up yours."
Screw you 🫵 and your 🫵 Lean certificates. I don't consider your theorem to be proved.
