The discourse on Sorare this weekend is fascinating, but the most striking (& disheartening) trend is how much more prevalent the Sets mode is than Pro.
If they are genuinely offering gems as a reward option in Pro (as per @QTNSorare), itâs about time for Proâs last rites.
Opinion: Sorare Set is simultaneously the best and worst thing to happen to the product.
For somewhere between $500-$2000 (I guess?), users can play the way @NepentheZ is doing the pro version.
Every player available = âunconstrainedâ fantasy football, arguably the truest form, plus it has to be said much more fun. All about plotting your way to the sixth level, reset and climb again. I think good managers can hit the top level five or six times before time is up on âHyperglitchâ.
Then do it all again? The winners will, and the addicts. But there are plenty more losers than winners on Set, despite what your X feed might lead you to believe. Sorare have developed Set in order to earn more money because Pro wasnât doing a good enough job for them.
Letâs assume they plan to run it 3-4 times this season, given this initial fifty day window it would make sense. Are those users who are putting $500-$2000 into this Set willing to do the same another three times this season? The winners maybe but theyâre in the minority. The addicts of course too, but theyâre a dangerous cohort to rely on.
The thing is, those who are good at it wonât necessarily get worse, and those who arenât good at it yet will get better, with time and practise (and $$$). Itâs not like Pro with fixed prize pool or PvP environments.
If at some point it turns out the odds are too skewed against Sorare, ie the margins arenât what they projected to be theyâll likely need to nerf it. Thankfully short fifty-day windows are pretty great for being able to change rules (versus once a year with Pro).
All this to say, Set is a really great product, the buzz around it the past week has been brilliant to see. Itâs addictive, it requires constant engagement, it rewards skilled managers, it has an element of luck and of course a jackpot.
Thereâs a non-zero chance it completely kills off Pro, which Sorare will of course wish to avoid. The biggest concern for me is still the short-term-ism of it all, then again they may just introduce another new product = way to play the game/way to make more money.
So I stand corrected on my nerfing prediction (although donât know if pack odds have changed slightly?)
It wasnât because many users harvested gems prior as others suggested, but I naively thought Sorare might have wished to treat their original, core product with higher priority (remember scarcity?)
It appears not and money talks. That said, you canât really blame them, I imagine both the revenue & margin on Sets blow Pro out of the water.
Look how excited people are to pack Yamals, Haalands & Kanes. The best players previously unattainable for the vast majority of Sorare users. Now users have 50 days to complete collection missions, pack special editions, aim for level 5&6 cash returns and stash some gems away before doing it all again, and again, and again?
Surely more than just the theme & card designs must change to keep users spending each ~2month period? Or is it simply addictive enough?
I do still fear the short-term-ism and addictiveness of Sets are huge risks. No idea if itâs converting many users over to Pro (why would they?!) and it may even be the reverse where Pro players want to play with the stars for a lot less. Also, why would Sorare invest $$$ into their poorer performing product from a rev & margin/profitability standpoint?
Odds on a fallout/meltdown/outcry when the new Sets format/rules are announced tomorrow?
Gonna go out on a limb and predict itâll be nerfed somehow. Could be higher targets, lower payouts, gems being less valuable, packs of lesser quality or some combination of all.
People will still pay and play, for this next version anyway, but if itâs only lasting 6-8 weeks and theyâre expected to do it again 3-4 times a season, itâll lose momentum pretty quickly.
So we all got an email today: Sorare have "raised" again, or rather they've received further financing from existing investors (seemingly an 8-figure sum?) to bolster cash flow.
This news might be the biggest red flag yet for me tbh (which is such a shame because I sincerely don't want it to be!)
First up: 85% H1 2026 YoY net revenue growth... Nicolas was quoted in an interview on the 12th June 2026 saying H1 2026 figures were up 30% YoY. Perhaps the World Cup Colors Set did some SERIOUS heavy lifting the last couple weeks of June?? But I can't really buy or trust any numbers that are quoted.
Same goes for "100,000 managers" buying a card in this period, while you've seemingly got "one million managers signed up in the past 18 months" and "over 3 million users" globally. None of it I understand and all seems a bit smoke and mirrors. Interpreted another way, if only 100k of your 3M users (3.3%) purchased a card in a 6-month period, I'd be seriously concerned on ACVs and CACs for those ~2.9m who aren't spending.
Further, my last medium article back in December 2024 (time flies) references numbers sourced from SorareData at the time: ~450k card-owning managers.
Now of course we have Sets/Arcade, and we have Snatch (which I have zero clue about). Both perhaps have hundreds of thousands of "users" but if 95%+ are still not "buying-in", it seems like a waste. It does however seem these are the horses Nicolas and team are backing to succeed.
Also seems this raise is in tranches, meaning in all likelihood Sorare will need to meet goals and targets to release further funds. What happens if they aren't met? How long is the runway really?
I'd just love to know what these tens of millions are for. They no longer have the EPL license, they've renegotiated far more favourable terms with other leagues, they've shut down offices and gone through redundancies. They've tweaked the Pro game more and more meaning their payouts/user *should* decrease. They've had 6+ years to reach profitability and they were handed the biggest golden ticket in the world with their Series B (okay double-edged sword but still $$$).

I realise it's meant for existing players who played Sorare 26, but I've just sat down to watch this. Needed to put it on 0.8x speed and still had to pause, rewind, re-listen and re-watch parts multiple times. Still don't understands some bits either. The complexities are baffling.
Further - and I mean no disrespect to the person in this video - when creating content in English intended for an international audience, please *please* use a native speaker or at least avoid strong accents.
I'd love to see their content for new players, and how the pitch the game nowadays but can't find anything on their YT channel? Their Tiktok channel appears to only appeal to a French-speaking audience? Plus when I search "Sorare how to play" the first result is a beginners guide blogpost from 2024.

Just me or is this a terrible investment? 0.5% in a year with a hell of a lot of time & effort on top? Like, why?
Fine if itâs completely FU money but then in that case why hire someone to run it, and why share/care about ROI?
Humble brag, my 26 ROI was 16% (+$355 on $2,200) đââď¸
It's time for my final @Sorare 2026 ROI report đ
After selling a couple of classic cards yesterday, my total withdrawals for last season > my total deposits.
ROI has been achieved just in time for the new season, if I had taken rewards in ETH and not cash, I would have been up approximately 200+ ETH â˝ď¸
It was quite a mental health journey, full of highs and lows, but i've come out of #SR26 with a ton of new fantasy football JPEG friends (Nearly 200 new unique cards) ready for the new season.
Speaking of new seasons, @PranksyBreaks is going to live stream tomorrow at 11AM UK, with some theory crafting, and catching up with everyone in prep for the new season:

Iâd argue these arenât the numbers that matter most at all. In fact, this is far from a âfair testâ or YoY comparison, the only constants being a 6-day timeframe and the league in question.
Anyone can spin a stat either positively or negatively, and Iâm not sure what OPs angle is here, if any, (have enjoyed much of his content to date), but Iâd argue the avg. price per card he shared previously is a more important number to Sorare.
- Vastly different no. of cards minted/sold so far (~2.5x as many limiteds in those first six daysâŚ)
- different launch schedule vs last year (SPFL came later I believe?)
- League make-up itself arguably different (EU qualifiers, promoted teams, favourites etc.)
- doesnât factor in market credits
âIndividual buyers of at least one cardâ up 61% as indicated, but overall $ generated only up by 29%.
1,765 users spending $113 each vs 1,094 spending $142 could be perceived as negative but it also doesnât tell us the whole picture. Could be a downward sloping graph where the first 1,000 users this year spent more or similar to last yearâŚ
Just remember: 34% of all statistics are made-up.
