Residents in Wisconsin are required to show an ID at the polls. That is not the case in Minnesota, where I have voted for nearly 3 decades and never once shown my ID to an election judge.

In November, the US Mint will release a 1 ounce gold coin, with a $250 face value and President Trump's likeness. It is very similar to the clad $1 Trump coin released earlier this year. The price has not been released, but will certainly exceed $5K. usmint.gov/semiquincentennia…

Jordan Collins, convicted for the murder of his teenage son Manny, called @WCCO today from the @AnokaCoSheriff jail. He is upset that a @MNCourts judge denied video access to his trial & future sentencing, set for December. But the rules clearly forbid it. cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/j…

As a cyclist, getting "doored" is one of the things I am weary of. (A guy died in St Paul in July.) This was a recent close call, although I have had much closer. It is also important to be aware of your surroundings: I heard/sensed no cars in the lane I swerved into.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has a searchable public database but it is so woefully delayed that it's not terribly helpful. The last homicide it released public information on was from August 30, 2026. hcmeopublicdata.hennepin.us/

When I'm not in the newsroom, hanging out with my family, or riding my bike, I'm often working on my side hustle: reselling random undervalued items I buy on the secondhand market. Started as a COVID hobby but has become necessary with inflation over the years.

The rideshare ordinance requiring human monitors in autonomous vehicles just passed the Minneapolis City Council on a 7-6 vote.
Just now #Minneapolis City Council member Jason Chavez says he supports the ordinance mandating "human safety monitors" in autonomous rideshare vehicles because cats are "being murdered by these vehicles." A vote on the measure is expected soon...

This cat also has a Lambo SUV (same color), with personalized plates (COURSES if memory serves). Somewhere in 55418... – at Columbia Heights, MN

Did you know @MinnCorrections frequently grants aging inmates supervised Conditional Medical Release? But not all geriatric inmates leave prison. For example, 84-year-old Ronald Vernon Schneider remains behind bars for the 1985 murder of @RobbinGov Police Officer John Scanlon.

The late Roland Amundson, who served as a @MNCourts Court of Appeals Judge, was fascinated with Russia. Not only did he adopt 4 children from the collapsed USSR, but also check out his bookplate (and the book topic). (Amundson would later go to prison for embezzling $300k.) – at Columbia Heights, MN
