There are many differing opinions about this. But if I’m the 49ers, I’m not putting him out there again until I have some medical assurance that the tendinitis has reduced to a degree that an Archillis rupture isn’t a probability. If that means eight or ten weeks, then eight to ten weeks. The 49ers can and should trade for an X receiver before the deadline. With Robinson, Kirk, Deebo, and Cooks to supplement, that’s plenty to get them safely into the playoffs and likely the 1 seed. The best strategy to ensuring you have the firepower to win it all is to shoot for one or even two guys too many in your WR room, and to preserve Mike for the last handful of games, including the playoffs. Winning a SB is why you brought him here. Not to beat the Raiders in week 9.
