Côte d’Ivoire next door has a similar speed camera system and it works. Drivers are warned of cameras ahead, and electronic displays show their speed, giving them time to slow down before they reach the camera.
Ghana should take a cue. The goal should be to save lives, not just collect fines.
When I hear or read comments from people saying they used to drive without paying attention to the speedometer, or that 80 km/h is “slow”, it gives you an idea of why we see the kind of carnage we do on our roads. How are you driving on these our roads with that mindset?

At least the President gets the point that warning signs should be posted at camera locations. He stressed the importance of transparency. That's standard practice in countries that run these systems well.
Beyond that, the speed limits themselves must be posted. You can't have people guessing what the limit is. Under the new regulations, the limit on urban roads and in built-up areas is 50 km/h. But there's also a 30 km/h limit "where human activity is predominant", and the law doesn't define what that means. It doesn't define "urban" or "built-up" either. How is a driver supposed to tell the difference without a sign?
The debate isn't about whether Traffitech is a good idea or whether it has benefits. That's settled. What needs fixing is this kind of ambiguity, so the public can trust the system. If that trust erodes and people stop paying, it could also hurt the financial viability of the whole operation.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I don’t even pity them. You sold the plate and insurance for 1500. You will use all that money to pay fines.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
