I've seen this argument countless times, and I think it misses some of the most important aspects of Bitcoin mining.
Not everything about mining comes down to how many dollars you spend versus how much BTC you receive. It is important but...
You mine Bitcoin for more than just the financial return.
-You mine to gain a deeper understanding of how Bitcoin actually works.
-You mine to support decentralization and help keep mining accessible to individuals.
-You mine to contribute hashrate to the network that secures the Bitcoin you believe in.
-You mine to acquire sats directly through mining rather than purchasing them through a KYC exchange.
-You mine to become an active participant instead of simply an observer.
-You mine because you believe Bitcoin is worth securing, not just owning.
Is buying Bitcoin more cost-effective for some people? Absolutely.
But measuring Bitcoin mining strictly in terms of ROI misses the bigger picture.
Bitcoin needs miners & Bitcoin needs more individuals who understand why mining matters.

I will be instituting connection caps on my servers beginning 9/8/26 3:30PM EDT.
I am formally committing to cap AlphaPool at 30% of the knots network hashrate, permanently.
New miners trying to connect above the cap? The connections will be rejected and the miner logs will print URLs for other pools.
This is also a great opportunity RUN YOUR OWN NODE AND SOLO MINE! I will be releasing education resources towards this end as we move forward.
In the meantime, please peel off of the pool and spread out the hash. I would prefer not to have to do this forcefully but it is the right thing to do. We are too much of the network hashrate, and to be honest? If crypto doesn't remain decentralized than it isn't meaningful.
So lets please work together on this.
