Last night, thousands of Istanbulites gathered at Saraçhane Square to demand justice and democracy in Türkiye. United by a strong common desire for a better future, a nation’s will becomes unstoppable.

Istanbul University has made a legally baseless decision to annul my diploma, an act beyond its authority and a troubling sign of political interference in academia. Universities are sacred spaces where young minds shape the future. They must remain independent, free from political interference, and dedicated to knowledge. Türkiye draws its strength from democracy, justice, and the rule of law. When these foundations are challenged, it is not just individuals who must take a stand, but the entire nation. This is not about me. This is about our future. No matter the challenges we face, we will not waver. We will not allow democracy to be undermined. We will not allow the will of the people to be overruled. 🇹🇷 A nation united in #solidarity for #justice cannot be stopped.

Today marks a pivotal moment not just for #Istanbul, but for #democracy itself. As we celebrate our victory, we send a resounding message to the world: the decline of democracy ends now. Istanbul stands as a beacon of hope, a testament to the resilience of democratic values in the face of rising authoritarianism. Our triumph echoes the spirit of our Republic's founding by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, inspiring those under oppressive regimes with a vision of freedom and equality.
