ALT If you know someone who may be considering suicide, talk to them about it. Listen with an open mind and offer your support.

ALT Who is at risk of suicide? People who have attempted to take their own life. People struggling with depression and other negative feelings. People suffering from severe emotional distress, and chronic pain or illness. People who experienced war, violence, trauma, abuse or discrimination. People who are socially isolated. People with an alcohol or drug problem.

ALT Do you know someone who may be considering suicide? Reach out and offer to listen. Encourage them to seek professional help, offer to assist with the appointment. Do not leave them alone if you think they are in immediate danger, call loved ones and emergency services. Remove access to means of self-harm, such as sharp objects, pesticides, firearms, or medications. Check in regularly.
