Side note - this is the part of our business no one thinks about. We respond to approximately 150-180 motor vehicle accidents per month. We do _significantly_ better than average at making sure they are paid for and picked up (eg; by insurance carriers, lienholders, etc.) but we're still left every month with a significant number of vehicles that get abandoned with us. That means we didn't get paid by anyone, and we then get to spend 90-120 days running through a process with the state of NC to get a storage lien and permission to sell those vehicles. Only then, after 3-4+ months of the vehicles taking up space on my storage yard, can I then go about sending them to scrap and recovering some $.

The current working plan. Strip out the tanks/pumps/etc. in the center. On the platform that's left, fabricate a turret onto which we'll mount dual 25k+ winches as well as some stiff legs. Spin the turret to direct the winches out either side. Have a kick-ass off road recovery unit. What say you @TommyApples80 teapawt.net/msaskin/status/2113309…
We just found ourselves in possession of an Oshkosh P19. What should we do with it?

After getting this car back to where it should be, the customer refused to pay - claims "we damaged his bumper". Hopefully it's not going to be that kind of week. 🤦‍♂️

In today's lesson on municipal bidding - read the RFP documents and respond with conforming bids. All of our competitors here seemed to miss the "provide a price on a loaded per mile basis with no other fees" guidance.

Also, for anyone who cares, the beatings will continue until morale improves. January 2026 = $3.37/gal average This week = $6.19/gal average
