Today I expressed frustration about something going on in my life to my co-teacher, one of my students who struggles to regulate his emotions overheard. He put his hand on my back and said it’s gonna be okay, why don’t we go for a walk? #heartwarming #inclusion #CharacterStrong

It’s predicted that machines could take 50% of jobs in the next 30 years. If this is true, what impact will it have on how and what we teach kids in K-12? #NYSCATE21

@msculver2 and Heather are rocking their presentation about providing choice to empower student learning. So inspiring to hear how they encourage their students to be creative problem solvers and collaborative learners. I am grateful to work with teachers like them!🥳 #NYSCATE21
Looking forward to attending and presenting at NYSCATE in person this year! #nyscate2021 #nyscate event.crowdcompass.com/nysca…

1. More teachers are leaving teaching now than ever before because society has shown how little they value teachers. 2. Less students are majoring in education because of #1. 3. There are not enough substitutes to fill the positions because of #1 and #2.

This year more teachers will likely be leaving teaching than ever before, and not because they no longer care about their students or don’t love teaching, but because society doesn’t care about or value them.

State tests are going to tell us that despite our best efforts, and due to variables beyond our control, students will score lower than in a regular school year. Just saved everyone many hours of time and billions of dollars. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. – at Beech Grove, IN

If you are arguing that schools must reopen because students need access to meals, mental health support and academic resources, and you are not advocating for more food assistance, school counselors and funding— YOU DON’T ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT STUDENTS!

People calling teachers (who buy their own supplies, work hundreds of hours of unpaid overtime, and work extra jobs because they are so underpaid) selfish because they are worried about going back to school during a pandemic is peak irony in 2020.

One of the most underrated leadership traits is gentleness. Not just humility but also gentleness. The best leaders I've worked for have been gentle. Some were soft-spoken, others gregarious. But there was a gentleness through and through. (pt 1)

School virtually will never be the same as in-person. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be effective, engaging, or fun. It doesn’t mean that quality instruction stops.

I can’t even imagine what would happen if teachers and school staffs only worked their contractual hours, only fulfilled their contractual duties and only used the resources their schools provided.
