The U.S. strongly condemns the Hong Kong Court’s decision to once again sentence Joshua Wong for exercising his freedom of speech. He has used peaceful means to defend the rights promised to all individuals in Hong Kong. We call for his immediate release and that of all unjustly detained persons.

.@PeteHegseth, cabinet secretaries shouldn't be wasting taxpayer dollars on campaign style videos. Kristi Noem learned that the hard way. This is about you: the incompetence you’ve displayed, the bad advice you’ve given to president, and your shameful and embarassing episodes from firing our top generals to texting war plans to reporters.

I predict the Democrats will be far more aggressively right-wing and pro-war than even the Republicans, fully repairing NATO relations, doubling down on support for Ukraine, Taiwan, and broadening the strategy against Iran. The DSA will be seen by history as useful idiots.

“The MAGA core still exists, but it has shrunk as Trump’s policies have failed in their own terms, and as the wealth of his friends and family has expanded in the manner of an African kleptocracy. There is a gap in the American market for a party that stands for limited government, the rule of law and the principles of the nation’s founding. Both main parties at present seem to want to mobilise the full coercive power of the state against people they dislike. Both elevate outcome over process. Both are inclined to treat election results as contingent unless they win. Americans deserve better. Theirs is the world’s greatest republic, designed to be ‘a government of laws, not of men’.” dailymail.com/debate/article…

Not just consumers. Tariffs walloped producers who needed intermediate goods and wrecked cross-border traffic between states like Maine and Michigan with Canada. Tariffs are bad but petulant toddler fit tariffs are even worse.
Republicans are blaming the Iran war and rising prices for this week's electoral shellacking. Fair enough. But the economic damage didn't begin with the war. It began with indiscriminate tariffs that amounted to a tax increase on American consumers.

While Russia loses 1 civilian for every 1000 that Ukraine loses, the Russian occupied White House promites verbatim Kremlin narrative to the contrary.
Trump on Ukraine War: Russia is losing civilians also. It's a bloodbath.

A sad note on how much business depends on favors from Washington these days.
Stock markets up after election results. But what is most interesting is the composition. Health and solar up, data centers and Musk-related down. Crypto up may be the one I wouldn't have expected. And note, markets presumably had already been pricing in large Democratic gains.

BREAKING: #JoshuaWong sentenced to 10 years under Hong Kong’s National Security Law. Expected release: late 2036. Jailed since 2020, he was arrested again inside prison last year for his international advocacy. He deserves freedom, not another decade behind bars.

Two years ago the GOP won Texas by 14 points and was rightfully proud of its multiracial coalition. Two years of tariffs, racism and war later, and everything changed. But if you think more racism is the answer, you'll lose forever and deserve every single defeat. Oh, and in 1970, the Democratic Party was in nearly absolute control of the state of Texas, when it was a whiter state. Demographics are not destiny.
In 1970, the White population in Texas was 89%. In 2000, it was 50%. Now it’s less than 39%. Demographics is destiny.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
In 1970 the White population included Hispanic people because surveys in Texas didn't ask about Hispanic ethnicity as a separate question from race. In 2000 the White population for just race was 71%. Today White is 74% and "White, not Hispanic" sorted for ethnic origin is 37%. census.gov/quickfacts/TX

Repeal tariffs, first of all.
Replying to @Noahpinion
What can the Democrats do to convince people they are the solution to the cost of living crisis? The rest is pretty straightforward I think.

Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies. Hoping for a course correction, for the country and for my party.
