The Great & Noble Sam Till - foreman of #PalominaFarm - took his peaceful leave this afternoon, on his terms, and in my arms. We are bereft.

Disappointingly, Starshield still doesn’t work well and seems to cut out for units above 160kmh. The improvement observed earlier today seems inconsistent and unstable.

A senior Ukrainian commander told me he lost more than $1 million in drones the first night StarShield went out. The next 3 days, speeds remained so unstable they canceled almost all ops striking RU logistics to protect Ukrainian infantry in the kill zone nytimes.com/2026/10/21/world…

A group dispatched by Hegseth's team in February attempted to move the historic globe, said to be used by Eisenhower during World War II.
They lifted it from its home in an Army office in the Pentagon ... and dropped it.

Three waves of ballistic missiles have been launched at Kyiv by Russian “humanitarians” since yesterday evening. They used 21 missiles. Unfortunately, numerous sites across the city have been hit and damaged: ordinary residential buildings, energy facilities, infrastructure at one of the railway stations and the metro, shopping malls, and businesses. Even a monastery is among the damaged sites. Our emergency services are working at all the affected locations. Twelve of our regions came under Russian attack overnight. In Kyiv and across the regions, 34 people were injured, including five children. As of now, two people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones.
Almost immediately after another round of talks, Russia launched a pointed attack. This means there has been no real change in its attitude toward everything that is happening. It is important to keep trying to find the right solutions to end this war. But when Russia responds to negotiations with ballistic missiles, real pressure on Russia is needed to bring about different steps – steps toward ending the killing. Stronger air defenses and the rapid delivery of missiles, the ability to destroy ballistic missile launchers, sanctions over the war – all of this must be in place. I am grateful to everyone who sees the situation for what it is and acknowledges the reality. The aggressor deserves to be treated accordingly. Ukraine deserves support. People's lives deserve protection. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

More pushback from GOP senators. A U.S. alliance with Putin remains deeply unpopular.
I just can’t.

NEW: Rubio faces the same question in India that I asked him earlier in Samarkand: How does he explain the U.S. buying Russian diesel while sanctioning India for buying Russian oil?
Rubio says it’s a “balancing act.”

The USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group left port in JAPAN on Monday (not San Diego). The TR and the Makin left San Diego on Sept 27 and Sept 28 respectively, meaning the U.S. is still on track to have three aircraft carriers in the Middle East in November. While the USS Roosevelt is capable of getting to the Middle East by the end of next week, one senior U.S. official Fox spoke with said the carrier will likely arrive by the end of November.
The USS George H.W. Bush carrier strike group and the USS George Washington carrier strike group are both currently in the Arabian Sea.
Per @Liz_Friden The U.S. is sending the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Middle East, two U.S. officials confirm to Fox News. The ships will arrive in the Middle East by the end of November, the officials said. These new deployments will add about 10,000 Sailors and Marines to the Middle East.
The USS Roosevelt will be the third aircraft carrier in the Middle East, joining the USS George H.W. Bush which arrived to the region in April, and the USS George Washington which arrived in mid-August to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln. This will provide more options for the U.S. as President Trump is reportedly considering ramping up strikes on Iran after the Midterms.
The USS Roosevelt departed its home port of San Diego on Sunday and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit deployed from San Diego on Monday along with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group. The Marine Expeditionary Unit and Amphibious Ready Group typically include about 4,200 Marines and Sailors. The USS Roosevelt carrier strike group includes about 6,000 Sailors.
