While speaking at a 9/11 commemoration event outside the White House, Trump recounted that two firefighters physically lifted and ran with him away from an unstable building near Ground Zero in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Trump’s descriptions of his location and actions on and immediately after 9/11 have varied significantly over the years. In some past recollections, he stated he watched the events unfold on television from his residence, while in other accounts he claimed to have gone down to the site with a crew of his own construction workers. Fact-checkers and historians have found no contemporaneous records, emergency logs, or corroborating accounts from first responders or fire officials placing Trump in the middle of such an emergency evacuation or confirming his participation in physical recovery work at Ground Zero. The man has no shame… none whatsoever. He is a disgrace to the office of President of the United States.
