Today’s the 19th anniversary of my first stroke. In March 2001, the doctors said I’d never be able to read anything longer than a few sentences. I’m currently writing my second book, have over 20 essays and poems published in various publications and have read over 3000 books

The second literacy fight we’ll need to buckle up for against a growing wave of anti-intellectualism is the one against this (mis)assumption that reading is something you only do ‘just for fun’!🫠or ‘to relax’…yes, sometimes it is,it absolutely can be…but reading is deeply political. Deeply sociological. Yes, even reading fiction! Books open our eyes to other view points. A politics of perspective, if you will.

WORSE: BOTH. BEING A GOOD MAN IS NOT JUST "NOT RAPING OR ABUSING" WOMEN. BEING A GOOD MAN IS STANDING UP FOR WOMEN AGAINST YOUR PEERS WHO CONSISTENTLY DEHUMANIZE AND BRUTALIZE THEM. BEING A GOOD MAN IS NOT PASSIVE, BEING A GOOD MAN TAKES ACTION. HAD I NOT BEEN THERE, THAT WOMAN-
