“The writing becomes your shelter — to express yourself and relieve yourself, to purge it out.” — a full 2-page spread on the life and art of Gulzar in yesterday’s @nytimes. nytimes.com/2026/09/21/world…
At 92, Gulzar writes with the same discipline that's helped him refine & reinvent his art decade after decade - building an enormous body of work known for its tenderness. This summer, I spent time with him at his Mumbai home for this @nytimes profile: nytimes.com/2026/09/21/world…

Given all the uncertainties, trolling, mental battles and quiet tears she has endured in her career, October 30 being a date now associated with @JemiRodrigues is THE biggest win for an absolute gem of a cricketer! Have been smiling at my TL all day. Grit, fearless, resilient. What a great legacy to leave behind and she hasn't even properly begun yet. Have some reading for you guys, which I will replug shamelessly. @bijuthecoach, Prashant Shetty and @wvraman spoke to Sportstar about their favourite Jemi, the gem who refused to break 👉 bit.ly/48op24n Photos by the incredible @EmmanualYogini #WomensCricket #CWC25

We are now reaching a point where critics of the ruling party will be hounded, their parents dragged in and courts will legitimise ludicrous demands of cancellation of passport and Aadhaar. Absolutely shameful!

When told people like you with your kind of passports should expect this treatment and that if we argued against that obviously disgusting comment we would be considered a threat to other passengers and not boarded is not treating everyone exactly the same but it is racist

🚨The SIR has repeatedly been sold as an exercise to identify “illegal foreigners”. Data from at least six states shows only 1,600 found in a combined electorate of over 98 million. Also no standardised SOPs were issued which means several states didn’t even collect this data. @htTweets

So sorry to hear, @sadatroya1. This is just awful. I hope the wonderful Ustad Deldar is doing ok.

In India there will never be an apology. They will simply switch sides if the situation arises and move on like nothing wrong happened.
📺 “We reported events one-sidedly for years”: Serbian TV apologizes to viewers after Vučić's party loses the election Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) opened its news broadcast with footage of celebrations following the Student List's election victory — scenes it had failed to show the previous evening. “For years, we failed to fulfill our duty. We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly, and failed to ask the necessary questions. For that, we owe our viewers an apology,” news anchor Goran Eror said. Following the controversy, RTV's acting editor-in-chief Nenad Čačić resigned. A similar incident occurred in Hungary, where state television also apologized to viewers after Viktor Orbán's election defeat.

Israeli politician Moshe Feiglin says Jewish morality requires killing the babies of your enemies. Four Arabs have won the Nobel peace prize for science & medical achievements. Steve Jobs was half Syrian. Algebra, chemistry, the first alphabet, the modern hospital system and pulmonary circulation were all discovered or created in the Mideast.

There are no shortcuts in SIR analysis. The proof is in voter rolls. Using district-data, past survey data to discredit is shoddy journalism. The only way to prove or disprove is mass analysis like the below story. Rest are distractions. thehindu.com/data/muslims-di…

I hate this condescending whataboutism. Yes Bret, if the interior minister of Japan was a right-wing religious zealot using US taxpayer money for ethnic cleansing, they would probably be better known.
NYT's Bret Stephens whines that Democrats know "Smotrich and Ben-Gvir" but not "the interior minister of Japan." Their "obsession" with Israel drives him "crazy." (Being politically informed on Israel is now anti-Semitic.)
