This strategy is really interesting. The action yesterday was spectacular but I was concerned about it being confined to just one day. Yet at the same time unrest can only extend across many days when theres high unemployment (economic crisis, lockdown etc) --
Les Gilets Jaunes appellent à poursuivre les actions toute la semaine et à un acte 2, le 24 Octobre.

So keeping the momentum going every weekend could help this develop further despite that? As I've said before the key contribution of a riot is allowing the next one to go further. Imagine then if they're still doing this by the time an oil shock really does freeze the economy.

As if scripted, the moment radical action appears is the moment that Melenchon, Macron and Le Pen all hold the same position.
Pendant que les chaînes d'info inondent d'images de violence dans des dizaines de villes, tout se déroule dans le calme avec des dizaines de milliers de gens calmement mobilisés. Deux mondes, deux réalités.

Melenchon is following the same palybook applied to 2020: cleave the movement into 'good' and 'bad', absorb the savory elements with promises of 'real power', obscure the collective memory to where its doubted the radical elements ever existed!

“Communists should oppose immigration because capitalists use it to undermine workers.” Marx confronted almost this exact argument over Irish workers in England but he drew the opposite political conclusion. His reasoning is worth examining. I figured it was worth a thread. 🧵

Honestly looking back at the progress radical movements have made in just the last 2 years is getting me excited, and I was only recently pretty dejected over the lack of any action over the summer.

Not just contrasting Europe right now to the encampments, but remembering how recent the anti-ICE protests in the US were too (despite how long ago they feel) ! I was saying the current action needs a second yellow vests riot, and I'm feeling more like this is an inevitability.

Big question is where this could go, but so far its running up against the same barrier as the encampments, it hasn't broken out of just the student movement. In the past the next step was sympathy strikes but today I think we're waiting for a second yellow vests riot.

I think abolition is one of those topics that reveals who can imagine a revolutionary society and who just wants a version of the same but slightly fairer

Ok this explains it. She really thought if she played it right she could sneak by a soft position on Israel, and can't understand why it didn't work. That nobody tolerated a middle ground is clearly the fault of the insane radical left, and that's why this is all she talks about.
