18.9Wh (approx. 5100mAh at 3.7V) is an egregiously small battery size for the new iPad Mini, especially if you consider the size of the Duo battery for instance

on the Japanese piracy etc discourse... Did you know that sarah.or.jp/ mandates that 200 yen from every BD Recorder sold and 1% of every BD-R sold has to get paid to copyright holders, as compensation for possibly using the device to copy their content.

This began December 2025. whilst we can't say for certain, some believe this was the last straw for a lot of manufacturers to pull out of the BD Recorder or blank BD-R market.

Unforunately that's impossible. RAM runs on 24V and SSD is only 5V so the bits would have to be shrunk and expanded bidirectionally.

some of the new RTX Spark designs (XPS 16 Creator Edition, Surface Laptop Ultra) genuinely look like nice machines, it's an absolute shame they're stuck with that chip instead of being available with Strix/Gorgon Halo or Panther Lake X7/9 / Panther Lake + dGPU

The problem with Singapore is for some reason their regulator (IMDA) has mandated that all networks shut off 5G NSA. Since 5G SA roaming basically doesn't exist, this means all inbound roamers are 4G only in Singapore, which is a pretty crap outcome.

Singapore has first world infrastructure. However, data connectivity has been miserable. @sailyworld e-sim has been awful. Unusable. Will never use again. Free/ hotel internet, painfully slow. Looking forward to first-world connectivity back in Vietnam. 🇻🇳
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Singapore consistently ranks at or near the top globally for internet speeds, with fixed broadband medians exceeding 600 Mbps and strong mobile performance. Experiences with specific eSIM providers or hotel WiFi do not represent the country's infrastructure. speedtest.net/global-index/s… ookla.com/research/repor…

Optus has enabled NR-DC on Syd/Mel CBD sites now, so they can now join Telstra in the 5G(igabit) 5G club. speedtest.net/result/a/11929…

how can NAND Writes be lower than Host Writes? I don't think this drive (Marvell controller) uses compression.

ok apparently it's because the static SLC area writes are measured separately. makes sense I guess. Seems like I've experienced ~0 write amplification.
