The coding interview is dead, at least for my team at Anthropic. I've seen enough to know that it no longer provides signal. I removed it from loops this month. I have a spicy, optimistic take - I think there's an opportunity for junior engineers: felixrieseberg.com/hunger-be…

10x faster (and easier) TPC-H / TPC-DS data, directly as @ApacheParquet . Make SF-10 faster than you can type the command. It was a great experience in collaborative AI assisted development with @kevinjqliu and @atclflushopt andrew.nerdnetworks.org/blog…

Great writeup on what Databricks is and how our tech fits into the broader changing nature of work and companies!

AI Engineering needs mostly data engineering, same as with data science before. Data wrangling was done by 80% of BI engineers when I got into the job in 2003, then 80% of the time by data scientists, and today it's done 80% of the time by AI engineers. It's much more automated, but without clear knowledge or direction for agents, you end up in a mess in no time. Data quality and data management will not go away anytime soon. Jevons paradox makes the demand for data engineers even higher.
Data engineers > AI engineers there's a big difference between a "RAG guy" and a "Data Intensive Applications" person like in this screenshot and there's never been a starker difference in demand in my entire career in tech (aka post search engine wars) if your blog / github is full of stuff like this, I have a fantastic mission/job for you (SF preferred, can relocate u, visas ok) (if you can name who's blog this is without even checking, you definitely are in the community. bonus points if you know where he ended up also without looking) [email protected] and the team will reach out if you fit

Saying software is dead because everyone can create it with agents is like saying movies are dead because billions of ppl have a high res video camera in their pockets Movies doing better than ever+more ppl make a living from videos, movies, TV than ever (Analogy from @simonw)
Saying software is dead because anyone can build it is like saying photography is dead now that everyone in the world has a camera in their pocket Not only is it not dead it's the beginning of the Kodak Brownie moment for software, and we will see an absolute explosion of it It will be the first generation for who building software will feel no different than using it. This is crazy! The quality and bar of what we expect from our everyday apps will be raised dramatically, we'll have personal software, we'll have disposable software, and agents will be the foundation for most of it Tech has always been chaotic and evolving, the people who have been able to adapt and move in front of new opportunities have always excelled, this is nothing new, I'm seeing it now and we'll see it 10 years from now Find the opportunities in the chaose and disruption, there are countless of them

Building an AWS lakehouse for a client: Glue + Iceberg, pulling from on-prem Oracle as the primary source. Source > Glue (Spark + Step Function) > S3 > Athena Spark was the original plan. Now we want to test whether DuckDB can do the job.

🗞️ if your team is too busy doing their 'normal job' to experiment with AI, you're preparing them to be replaced ghuntley.com/replaced/ In this post, I guess this's the last time I'll say it. AI use is no longer optional if you wish to be employed. What follows is advice for current employees and hiring managers on how to hire in 2026 to source AI-first candidates.

Microsoft Fabric in Claude Code as a TUI filetree, with a custom NF font showing all the icons as glyphs. Inspired by the Fabric CLI file system metaphor, it knows the CLI commands so it shows you where Claude is working in Fabric.
I built a Claude mod that shows your files, Git status, and where Claude is working with some visual cues. It's called filetree. Mods are super easy to make and test; I did this from Claude remote control. Defos my favorite feature in a long while! @bcherny @lydiahallie
