We know teaching today's events—which are not a “moment,” but the product of a long history—presents a familiar, yet unusually urgent, challenge: how can students use historical knowledge and thinking to understand the present? Here are some resources that might help. #sschat

How do you talk to your children about scary news events? Encourage your kids to share what they already know, let them ask questions, and offer simple, age-appropriate, information. to.pbs.org/3s2E3m4
The removal of an educational program or event must only be undertaken with a full understanding of the significance of the program, its character, and any loss of public trust that might result from such action.

A view from the speaker side of the webinar: I had a great time as 1 of 4 panelists today for the @ColaMuseum webinar for art educators "Kick-Start Your Virtual Art Class". So many resources shared! Of course the #MakeAChicken project made an appearance 😍🎨 #kickstARTvirtualart

I have a sneaking suspicion that most of the consumers of current museum digit are other museum professionals trying to get ideas. I fear we are in a horrible self-perpetuating circle.

Logical start for museum exploration in Copenhagen: @DesignmuseumDK. Not surprisingly, the Danish chair exhibition was a fave. Made a little video of it to share the clever way they incorporate all the didactic info without compromising the super clean aesthetic. #ITweetMuseums – at Copenhagen, Denmark

Want students to remember something? Ask them to draw it! Research shows that drawing boosts learning by forcing us to process information in multiple ways: visually, kinesthetically, and linguistically.

Museums could create these kind of kits for kids too - instead of traveling trunks for teachers. I kind of like this focus on self-directed learning better. Although admittedly, keeping track of all this back and forth is pretty labor intensive.
