NEWS: SpaceX has secured about $40 billion in the largest GPU financing ever.
The company signed a binding commitment for a master finance lease covering GPUs and related equipment, backed by an entity managed by Apollo Global Management.
The deal brings NVIDIA's next-generation Vera Rubin chips to SpaceX's terrestrial compute buildout, the backbone of its Super Intelligence push.
Who is backing it:
• Apollo is leading the financing
• Goldman Sachs served as sole structuring agent
• BlackRock, Goldman Sachs Asset Management and KKR made anchor commitments
The timeline:
• Expected to close before year-end 2026
• GPU deliveries begin in the first half of 2027
SpaceX's CFO:
"SpaceX aims to deploy the largest compute infrastructure in the world."
The CFO added the company is seeing payback periods of under a year on its compute, with the new lease helping bring capacity online faster to power Grok.

NEWS: Tesla Robotaxi has expanded its Houston service area.
The new zone is far bigger than the old one. Its shape also happens to look a lot like a rocket.
Robotaxi's caption: "Houston, we have liftoff."
Elon Musk quote-posted the map and added:
"I swear it's just a coincidence 😂"

NEWS: The big three US carriers are pressing the FCC on satellite-to-phone rules.
AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile, through their trade group CTIA, met with FCC leaders on October 20 to shape how direct-to-device satellite service gets regulated.
Their main asks:
• Keep the key 5G bands (2.5 GHz and 3.45 GHz) out of the satellite framework, arguing satellite service is not feasible there
• Protect the exclusive rights of terrestrial license holders
• Keep the consent-based system, so satellite operators still need to partner with carriers to use their spectrum
• Hold off on a proposed signal-strength limit until it is studied further
The filing lands as SpaceX pushes to expand Starlink Direct to Cell and lock up more spectrum, including its recent 800 MHz deal.
The bottom line: the carriers want satellite-to-phone service to keep running through their networks.

NEWS: Tesla has launched a new safety page for Robotaxi.
The page tracks how the driverless fleet is doing on real roads. The early numbers stand out.
Safety record so far:
• 0 people injured by Robotaxi
• 0 airbag deployments
• 0 pedestrians or cyclists hit
Tesla says that over the same number of miles, human drivers would have caused about 9.1 injury collisions, 4.1 airbag deployments and 0.52 pedestrian or cyclist collisions.
Robotaxi is currently running in 7 US cities.
Miles driven:
• More than 3.4 million miles driven autonomously
• 862,000 miles after dark
• 113,000 miles in the rain
• 575,000 miles in rush hour
Robotaxi is also expanding. Coming soon to:
• Las Vegas, Nevada
• Jacksonville, Florida
• Phoenix, Arizona
• San Antonio, Texas

NEWS: What Anthropic's $450 billion compute bet means for SpaceX
Anthropic plans to spend enormous sums on computing power in the years ahead.
SpaceX is positioned to take a cut.
In a draft of its IPO filing, the AI company said it could spend as much as $750 billion on computing capacity over time. It has already committed to about $450 billion in cloud deals over the next seven to 10 years.
Most of those contracts cannot be cancelled.
SpaceX matters here because it is already one of Anthropic's suppliers.
Last year Anthropic agreed to pay SpaceX up to $84.5 billion for computing capacity through 2029. The catch is that most of that money is cancellable on 90 days' notice, so for now it reads more like reserved capacity than guaranteed income.
The new filing changes the picture. Anthropic is signing far larger deals that are locked in for years. That raises the stakes for every supplier it uses, SpaceX included.
What it could mean for SpaceX:
- A much bigger customer. Anthropic's compute budget is heading into the hundreds of billions, so even a steady share grows fast in absolute terms.
- Firmer, longer revenue. If SpaceX moves part of its cancellable capacity into Anthropic's locked contracts, soft bookings turn into predictable income. That is the kind investors pay up for.
- A vote of confidence. A leading AI lab spending at this scale backs SpaceX's own push into large data centers and selling compute.
