JUST IN: Mortgage demand is now down 50% from pre-pandemic levels and at its lowest level since 1994.
From its peak in 2021, mortgage demand is down ~64%.
Current mortgage demand is ~75% below the 2005 peak.
The most incredible part of this?
Mortgage rates are still only at their historical average.
Housing market activity is coming to a halt.

My latest:
Congress is forcing higher earners to forgo a big tax deduction and put some savings into Roth 401(k) plans.
But that could be for the best, especially if it helps prevent widows and widowers from facing huge tax increases.

I think the salary figure is high and retirement too low.
What do you think?

670 days since John's "suicide".
670 days & his remains have still not been released.
670 days & his autopsy report has still not been released.
670 days is an absurd amount of time to wait to bury your loved one.
What are they hiding?

Governments usually resort to fiscal stimulus during recessions.
When a government is already running a $2.2 trillion annualized deficit (~8% of GDP) during an economic expansion, it changes the nature of recessions and near-recessions in that economy.

For once, I kind of agree with the Fed, assuming FedNow works the way it’s described.
And if you ever wondered if they pay attention to social media/YouTube there’s your answer.
Which is why, even when they roll out a CBDC, they won’t call it anything other than a Dollar.
#FedFAQ: Is FedNow replacing cash? Is it a central bank digital currency?

ALT FedFAQ: Is FedNow replacing cash? Is it a central bank digital currency? No. FedNow is not related to a digital currency. FedNow is a payments service the Federal Reserve is making available for banks and credit unions to transfer funds. It is like other Federal Reserve payments services, such as Fedwire and FedACH. The FedNow Service is neither a form of currency nor a step toward eliminating any form of payment, including cash.
