The inaugural Chhattisgarh Open this week in Raipur is an incredibly proud moment for me personally. Most of my early years were spent in the State, which was then part of Madhya Pradesh. In small coal mine towns, I grew up like Mowgli in The Jungle Book, surrounded by wild animals and lush forests. Not a day went by when our house was not visited by snakes, foxes, monkeys, hyenas, bears, and the most exotic species of wild birds. So, I do not kid that apart from the occasional pictures of Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros in the @sportstarweb (which would arrive more than a week late), I had no idea of golf. And then, cut to the present day, we are having a @pgtofindia golf tournament in Raipur, a place where I studied in a boarding school (Rajkumar College) for three years. This is amazing progress and truly exemplifies today’s modern India. Hats off and thanks to all involved, especially the Chief Minister, sponsors South Eastern Coalfield Limited and Coal India Limited (my dad gave his blood, sweat and tears to your cause all his working career) and those at the Fairway Golf & Lake Resort. #chhattisgarh @vishnudsai @ChhattisgarhCMO @FairwayResort @secl_cil @CoalIndiaHQ
