ALT This conference offers students, faculty mentors, educational researchers, and program administrators a platform to exchange knowledge and cultivate a community of practitioners and scholars in broadening the participation of underrepresented minorities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). This year’s conference keynotes, plenaries, and breakout sessions will revolve around the themes of “Equity and Inclusion in STEM”, “Leveraging Partnerships and Networks”, “Supporting the Post-pandemic STEMist”, and “Transformative Student Experiences”. The call for student poster abstracts, doctoral oral presentation abstracts, and professional session abstracts now open until September 22nd, 2023. Early Registration Closes on September 23rd, 2023.

ALT Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) chapter at the University of Maryland will host a Writing Workshop for the National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biology (NSF PRFB). Graduate students and early postdoctoral researchers will have the opportunity to learn about the components of the application and interact with current NSF PRFB fellows. The registration deadline is September 8th. Although we encourage you to attend the entire day, we understand that your schedule may not allow this. Therefore, we invite you to attend the parts that best fit your schedule. Please see the tentative itinerary here (https://go.umd.edu/workshop_schedule). Who should attend: Senior graduate students and early postdocs are invited, however some resources will be tailored to graduate students working on an application with a UMD faculty. We also invite UMD faculty & staff to sign-up to serve as a mentor.
