Everyone keeps asking what's wrong with this generation... Then a 13-year-old lad goes and does this. His name's Joey. And he saw his friend on a bridge... A friend who'd reached the point where he wanted to end his own life how mad is that...at his age.. There wasn't time to think. There wasn't time to call for someone else. Joey grabbed hold of him. And he held on... you heard the saying held on for his life.. Well joey held on for someone else's... Imagine that... You're 13 years old. Your mate is trying to jump. Your arms are burning. Your heart is racing. You don't know how long it's going to be before help arrives... You just know one thing... If you let go, your friend is gone. That's exactly what Joey did. He refused to let go until the police gt there and got his friend to safety. This week, the police gave him a Chief Superintendent's Commendation for his courage. And reading this got me thinking... We spend so much time filling our heads with videos of young people causing trouble that we forget there are thousands of kids out there like Joey. Kids with character. Kids with courage. Kids who'll put another human being before themselves. If this is the next generation... I think we've got more to be hopeful about than we realise. Joey you have my total respect... You should be unbelievably proud of yourself, mate. The country needs to hear stories like yours far more often. You give me more hope for the future.... Let's show the world this brave young man...
