If you've ever wanted guidance on how to choose a "naturalistic" stimulus for a psych study (neuroimaging and/or behavior), this one's for you! @claregrall drops some wisdom from media studies that is both theoretically interesting and practically useful ⬇️
✨🚨Preprint w/@esfinn!
With naturalistic stimuli, we're overlooking something: Media like film & TV *are not natural* & THATs what makes them useful!
Here, we bring a media perspective to the psych/neuro table to answer “how do I use media for science?” psyarxiv.com/c8z9t

I am SO EXCITED to announce a new research tool we've been developing. This "TotTag" device (part of the SociTrack system) allows researchers to study proximity with high accuracy (including between children and caregivers). psyarxiv.com/h2fy6/ @salovphd /1
We're also hosting a second session on Thurs at 8pm US Eastern / Fri 2am Paris / Fri 8am Beijing if you can't make it today!

Our 'Naturalistic Neuroimaging Database' (NNDb v1) is ready to use. Eighty-six people did a battery of behavioural tests and watched one of 10 full-length #movies during #fMRI. That's 46,249,600,000 voxels or 6.69 days worth of data to play with. 🥳
