Anti-war right update: Trump has bombed Somalia in this term twice as much as all of Bush, Obama, and Biden’s airstrikes combined. In just under two years he is set to surpass his own appalling record he established over four years.

🚨 Over 200 people have been killed in drone strikes across Sudan and the disputed Abyei region on Sunday and Monday, as the army and UAE’s RSF escalate their air war. The two deadliest attacks, both blamed on the SAF, killed about 110 people at a transport hub in West Kordofan and 73 at a market on the border with South Sudan.
The recent attacks include:
🔸 A strike on a transport hub in al-Dibab, West Kordofan, killed 80 people on Sunday evening, residents and medical workers told Al Jazeera. Of 47 wounded taken to nearby al-Mujlad, 30 later died, a medical source told AFP. The RSF's administration and the rights group Emergency Lawyers blamed the army.
🔸 About 12 drone strikes on Amiet market in Abyei, on the border with South Sudan, killed at least 73 people and wounded 19 on Monday, Radio Tamazuj reported. Abyei officials blamed the Sudanese army. South Sudan summoned Sudan's envoy.
🔸 Strikes on Nyala, South Darfur, on Monday, killed 17, including seven RSF officers, medical and RSF sources said.
🔸 An RSF drone hit a house near Khartoum airport, killing three children aged two to six, Sudan Tribune reported.
Sudan monitor @BSonblast also reported army strikes on Ed Daein, East Darfur, and an RSF strike on Kadugli, South Kordofan.
Today's quick update [Oct 19]:
- 4 rounds of RSF drone strikes in Khartoum; 4 civilians reported killed, 3 of them children.
- SAF drone strike on Amiet Market in disputed Abyei region on border w/ South Sudan; reports of large number of civilian casualties.

⭕️ Kristi Rogers, the wife of Michigan Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers, handed out $10 gas gift cards to drivers at a gas station on Detroit's east side on Wednesday, footage published by Sam Robinson shows.
"You should have gotten me before you filled up. I've got a $10 gift card," Kristi Rogers told one driver in footage of the stop at a Freedom Fuel station.
Asked about the giveaway, Mike Rogers told CBS News' Ed O'Keefe on Sunday that his wife paid for the cards out of pocket and was trying to raise campaign awareness.
Michigan law bars offering anything of value to influence a vote. Lawyers told the Detroit News it's unclear whether campaign funds can be spent on gas cards. If they were, the campaign will likely have to disclose the spending under federal rules.

🇺🇦 BREAKING: Ukraine has all but run out of Patriot interceptors, leaving it largely unable to stop Russian ballistic missiles, according to the Washington Post and CNN.
"As of October 7th, there were only 10 missiles left; these were used up during the attacks. Currently, there are only a couple remaining," a Ukrainian official told the Post. A source told CNN that "almost all the ballistic missiles from the last strike were not intercepted," as Russian missiles hit three Kyiv power plants and energy sites in Kharkiv, killing four people.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told the Financial Times that when he asked for more air defenses, the US response was to weaken Starlink's service, according to CNN.

Some pretty insane details on Gillibrand here including:
– Her comms director bought up to 30k of bitcoin and ether one week before Gillibrand announced a bill putting both under friendlier CFTC oversight.
– Her chief of staff invoked the Senator's role as the DSCC’s top fundraiser while pushing other Dem aides to back her crypto-friendly legislation
-Her 22-year-old son raised $30M for a startup that is backed by crypto investors, including a key Gillibrand donor.
Gillibrand on staff trading crypto: “I could care less what they do with their money. This is not a nanny state.”

Mike Rogers second wife worked for Paul Bremer in Iraq.
Rogers divorced his wife in 2007 and married Kristi Clemens in 2010.
After her Iraq job, Kristi launched the U.S. branch of Aegis, a security contractor, which got a billion dollar contract after Mike Rogers became chair of the Intel Committee. Kristi Rogers took credit for it in a now-deleted bio.
Then in 2014, Rogers faced criticism from the right for slow-walking the Benghazi investigation in order to protect his wife and her firm, which was doing work in Libya.
After his divorce, Rogers broke, his disclosures show. His wealth surged as his wife’s company raked in taxpayer money.

What's crazy is that @SarahLongwell25 spent 15 years working for the most notorious lobbyist in the country, Richard Berman; he even got a movie made about him, called "Thank You For Smoking." And she's never accounted for that.
The rule-of-thumb in DC has always been that it's ok to do the most antisocial kind of lobbying -- aside from tobacco and all sorts of other clients, Berman even lobbied to push pregnant women to eat more mercury -- but if you do that, you're a little less welcome in public, polite society. You can keep all your friends and go to private parties, in other words, but you're not gonna be invited to join the Kennedy Center board. No tobacco lobbyists need apply.
Yet Longwell spent the bulk of her career working for the most notorious, evil lobbyist in DC, has never explained it at all, and has just seamlessly transitioned into journalism and advocacy for Democrats. Here she is explaining how it was actually fine for Kamala Harris to not take a stand against the genocide in Gaza. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it.
I would QT her here but she blocked me.

Israel is still killing the most beautiful souls, rescue workers whose entire existence is dedicated to saving lives and helping others.
Israel is still terrorizing Gaza.
The only reason this isn’t front page news is because Palestinian lives are devalued.
The world lost a hero today. The Israeli occupation murdered Mohammed Tamous while he was heading to save Palestinians from under the rubble, the same he’s been doing for 3 years.
He was only 19-years-old when he took on one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, heading towards Israeli airstrikes to save people. He had his whole life ahead of him and for three years, he was a hero in Gaza, saving thousands of lives.
We will never forget you. We are heartbroken.

🇵🇸 Israel Exposed, the anonymous collective behind one of the largest online archives of Gaza genocide documentation, has released a map placing more than 35,200 videos and photos at the locations in Gaza where they were filmed.
Every geolocated clip links to its original post and source. Users can filter by area, date and type of attack, and overlay UN satellite damage assessments (UNOSAT). The full dataset is downloadable.
The group launched its archive in July with more than 64,500 videos and 17,900 photos and says more footage will be added.
It took a little longer than expected, but we have finished the Gaza Geolocation Map. Every clip in the archive whose location we know is placed on a map of Gaza, so you can see where the footage was filmed.
It includes:
35,200+ videos and photos placed on the map.
Sources and the original post for every clip
Node map links & suggested leads
Our built-in AI iris can navigate the map
Fully searchable index
Filters by area, date, type of attack and precision
UN satellite damage survey layer (UNOSAT)
Built-in reverse image search links for each node
Downloadable dataset (CSV, GeoJSON and Google Earth)
It can be accessed here: archivegenocide.com/geolocat…
Please re-share and help us break out of the algorithm prison.
We will keep placing more of the footage as our researchers work through the rest of the archive.
Thank you to genocide.live, GeoConfirmed, @AbuLocation and @NemoAnno, whose geolocation work is credited on the map.
God bless all those who sacrificed their lives to get this footage out.

I hope people understand this is why Mexico's Sheinbaum and Brazil's Lula have not sent oil to Cuba, the U.S. is using its military might to enforce its blockade, not just threats of tariffs. In the case of Mexico, the U.S. could use this to justify military action inside Mexico.
Embarrassing, dishonest, and inaccurate framing from @nytimes, accepting at face value U.S. claims about the "illegality" of delivering fuel to Cuba.
The only illegal action here is the U.S. oil blockade of Cuba, done in service of regime change. U.S. law does NOT apply abroad.

I first met Palestinian journalist Mujahed Al-Saadi in Jenin in 2022, when doing a documentary on the killing of his friend and colleague Shireen Abu Akleh. He then reported for Drop Site in September 2024. Later that month, he was arrested by Israeli forces from his home. 🧵
