At the PMNCH Accountability Breakfast on the sidelines of #UNGA81 in New York, Union Health Secretary Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava highlighted how accountability is an inbuilt feature of India’s health system. She outlined how the National Health Mission (NHM) supports States with financial and technical assistance for women, children and adolescent health, with priorities discussed through Programme Implementation Plans and placed in the public domain, promoting transparency and accountability. She highlighted outcome-based incentives for States to encourage healthy competition and better health outcomes, along with digital systems ensuring funds reach intended beneficiaries. She further underlined the role of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) gap assessments in identifying infrastructure and service-delivery gaps, while National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) enable health facilities to systematically address these gaps and improve quality of care. She also highlighted equity under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, one of the world’s largest health assurance schemes, with women accounting for nearly half of its beneficiaries. #PMNCH #HealthForAll #UNGA81

Over 60% of the global vaccine supply today is made in India. During COVID-19, the country exported 300 million doses while vaccinating more than a billion people at home. Indian scientists are also developing affordable vaccines for malaria, dengue, and other infectious diseases. In this piece, @naveenthacker, Executive Director, @IPAWorldorg, traces how India moved from having one of the world's toughest immunization challenges to anchoring its solution. India's immunization journey is one of public health's most compelling success stories, with its impact reaching far beyond its borders. From eliminating polio at home to supplying more than 60% of the world's vaccines, India has become a cornerstone of global immunization efforts. It has been built on decades of scientific investment, a vast network of community health workers, and hard-won public trust in vaccines. @naveenthacker traces this journey, and why its experience holds vital lessons for the world. 🔗 asianage.com/opinion/columni… #WorldImmunizationWeek #VaccinesWork #WIW2026 #MakeInIndia

TNIE Web-only Column | Iron deficiency remains the most common cause of anaemia, but it is not merely a dietary concern. Poverty, food insecurity, repeated infections, parasitic infestations, poor sanitation, and limited access to quality maternal and child health services all play a significant role. In many rural and underserved areas, awareness itself is a barrier. In many cases, families recognize and seek treatment for anaemia only after it has caused a detrimental and lasting impact. ✍️Dr Naveen Thacker (@naveenthacker) 🔗newindianexpress.com/web-onl…

On World Cancer Day, we are reminded that preventing cancer requires more than tools and evidence – it requires leadership that ignites action around a shared goal. The International Pediatric Association and the American Cancer Society are coming together to advance a global effort focused on strengthening HPV vaccination as a cornerstone of cervical cancer prevention. Guided by leadership from both organisations – Prof. Joseph Haddad, President of the International Pediatric Association, Dr. Naveen Thacker, Executive Director of the International Pediatric Association, and Dr. Anu Agrawal, Vice President, Global Cancer Support at the American Cancer Society – this collaboration reflects a shared, long-term commitment to prevention with a truly global reach. 👉 Follow program updates as we work together to advance cervical cancer prevention globally. <<ipa-world.org/increasing-HPV…>> #OneMissionEndCervicalCancer #WorldCancerDay
