The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce hosted its Lagos State Executive Breakfast Meeting,” themed “The Future of Lagos state: Business, Investment & Global Competitiveness,” with His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, as Guest Speaker.
The programme began with Mr. Tajudeen Ahmed, Chairman of the Programmes Committee, who welcomed guests and acknowledged the dignitaries in attendance.
In his welcome address, our President & Chairman of Council, Prince Abimbola Olashore, highlighted Lagos’ pivotal role in Nigeria’s commercial landscape and the need for reliable infrastructure, predictable policies, efficient regulations and access to finance to sustain its global competitiveness. He emphasised that government provides the enabling environment while the private sector brings capital, expertise and enterprise, and that together they can build a more competitive, innovative and investment-ready Lagos.
As the Chamber approaches its 50th anniversary in 2027, we remain committed to creating platforms where dialogue leads to practical outcomes and stronger trade and investment ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
His Excellency, Mr. @OlusolaSanwo -Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, delivered a keynote on The Future of Lagos: Business, Investment & Global Competitiveness.
His central message was that capital follows confidence, and that Lagos is building an environment investors can trust. He described Lagos as a national economic asset, the commercial gateway through which Nigeria engages the world.
He outlined Lagos State Development Plan for 2052: a thirty-year blueprint to grow the Lagos economy to between $800 billion and $1 trillion, built on four pillars: a Thriving Economy, a Human-Centric City, Modern Infrastructure and Effective Governance. Furthermore, he mentioned that Lagos ranked first in the 2025 PEBEC Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report, with a score of 85.6%. The Lekki Deep Sea Port, Lekki Free Zone and Dangote Refinery corridor are positioning Lagos as a regional hub for production, financing and distribution across West Africa.
This event was moderated by Mr. @OlufemiAwoyemi , mni, Founder and Chairman of Proshare Limited. He set the tone for a discussion on how strong public-private partnerships, visionary leadership, infrastructure, innovation and an enabling business environment can keep Lagos a leading destination for business on the global stage.
Thank you to our sponsors: @flyairpeace , @lirsgovng , @utltrustees , @uubolaw , Richardson Oil & Gas, @ZenithCarexEx , STL Trustees, @FirstRegistrars and @DealHQPartners , and to the Programmes Committee, HQ, Council and EXCo members, partners and guests for making the event a success.

Premium Member Spotlight: @British_Airways
Some journeys take us to new destinations. Others connect businesses, open doors to opportunity, and bring economies closer together.
At the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), we proudly celebrate British Airways, a global airline whose longstanding presence in Nigeria continues to strengthen connectivity between Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the wider world.
With a rich aviation heritage and an extensive international network, British Airways plays an important role in connecting business leaders, investors, tourists, and families across borders. Beyond transporting passengers, the airline facilitates business travel, supports international commerce, and creates opportunities for stronger economic and cultural relationships between markets.
For Nigerian businesses looking to expand internationally, reliable air connectivity remains an important part of the journey — bringing people together, enabling face-to-face engagements, and helping turn conversations into commercial opportunities.
Leadership Spotlight: Mrs. Adetutu Otuyalo
Driving British Airways' commercial engagement in the region is Mrs. Adetutu Otuyalo, Regional Commercial Manager for Nigeria and Ghana, whose career reflects extensive experience and dedication to the aviation industry.
With more than two decades of experience in commercial aviation, Mrs. Otuyalo has built her career at British Airways across corporate sales and regional commercial management. She previously served as Corporate Sales Manager for Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Liberia before taking on her regional leadership role. She studied at Obafemi Awolowo University and brings substantial experience in commercial strategy, corporate relationships, and customer engagement.
Her work reflects the importance of building strong relationships with corporate clients and travel trade partners while identifying opportunities to expand the airline's reach and serve the evolving needs of travellers across the region.
In October 2026, Mrs. Otuyalo reaffirmed British Airways' commitment to supporting Nigeria's travel industry, highlighting the importance of travel agents and pledging support for professional training, product knowledge, customer service, and emerging airline technologies through collaboration with the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA).
As a valued Premium Member of the NBCC, British Airways embodies the power of connectivity in facilitating trade, investment, tourism, and international business relationships.
We celebrate British Airways and the leadership of Mrs. Adetutu Otuyalo for their continued contributions to aviation and commercial connectivity, and we look forward to strengthening the partnerships that bring Nigeria and the United Kingdom closer together.

NAVIGATING NIGERIA’S NEXT PHASE OF GROWTH 🇳🇬🇬🇧
On Thursday, October 22,2026, the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) through it's UK Network, convened the Nigeria Economic Outlook Forum in London, bringing the conversation on Nigeria’s economic prospects into focus as businesses prepare for the year ahead.
The forum provided a platform to examine emerging economic trends, explore investment opportunities, and discuss the policy direction, trade dynamics and economic realities that will shape business decisions in the coming year.
For the Nigeria–UK business community, the significance of this engagement goes beyond economic projections. It creates an opportunity for businesses, investors and key stakeholders on both sides to exchange insights, anticipate challenges, identify growth opportunities and strengthen the partnerships that drive bilateral trade and investment.
Because understanding the outlook today is key to positioning for the opportunities of tomorrow.
#NBCC #economicoutlook #Uk @tradedept
Investment Follows Opportunity, but Confidence Is What Helps It Stay.
Every investor looks for opportunity.
But spotting an opportunity is only the beginning. The bigger question is: What gives an investor the confidence to take the next step, commit resources and build for the long term?
And when confidence grows, investment has a stronger foundation on which to take root.
This is where the role of the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) becomes important.
As a bridge between the Nigerian and British business communities, NBCC creates platforms for meaningful engagement among businesses, investors, industry leaders and policymakers. Through business forums, trade and investment engagements, networking opportunities and policy dialogues, the Chamber helps stakeholders exchange insights, build relationships and explore areas of mutual interest.
These connections matter. A business seeking to enter a new market needs more than an address; it needs an understanding of that market.
By bringing these conversations together, NBCC supports an environment in which businesses can make more informed connections, explore cross-border opportunities and build relationships that can support long-term commercial growth.
