Nice to see Scherzer and @JustinVerlander together again. Wish it was still in the Old English D. #detroitroots @tigers
Which pair are you taking?
My 10 year old’s new life goal is to invent something notable enough to get mentioned on @CNN10. His current plan is to recruit @MarkRober to help him build a prototype of his idea for a car that uses the circular motion of the wheels like a turbine to generate electricity.
I was told (maybe a @BarbByrum Tweet?) that when you complete a ballot early, your name gets updated in candidates databases. You move from potential voter to having already voted. If Dems are more likely to vote early it stands that they are less likely to be polled now.

When I draw the Earth for my 5th graders in science class, I always comment “It’s a pretty sweet Earth” and then chuckle to myself because they won’t get the joke.
i can’t help saying “but i am le tired” on an almost daily basis and i don’t think anyone around me ever knows why i say it like that

At our back to school training we are learning about a new safety plan. I don’t dispute that having common language and plans is important, but it’s disgusting how we continue to accept violence in schools as a given.

The back to school dreams started last night. I this one, I had two separate classrooms for my two subjects (math/science), BUT the science classroom had a queen size bed in it and a lively sitting area. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh! When the kids were supposed to come back after lunch, they just…didn’t. In the dream I was convinced the entire class of 25 was playing the most epic game of hide and seek ever.

Never tell a little girl that when a boy is mean or rude to her it's because he has a crush on her. Don't teach her that abuse is a sign of love.

There are words you shouldn’t call academic (or any) women. Words you might think are innocuous, but have a long history of being used to dismiss, devalue, or discredit women. You might not be aware that these words should be avoided. A 🧵 #academia #AcademicTwitter #WomenInSTEM

Hey @LansingLugnuts - I’m struggling with this graphic. What is the set of three supposed to be? Claw marks? PopTarts? I don’t get how it relates to pizza or Buddy’s.

(1/7) I’ve had 5 miscarriages in my life. All were incredibly different and heartbreaking. Twice my body would not release the embryo and I needed medical care. Both of those would be categorized as abortions- one surgically, the other in pill form.

Hey @Target. My district is still in school. Maybe hold off on the Back-to-School stocking for a little while? Signed, a tired teacher and parent

I’m pretty sure Mother Nature thought that Michiganders were getting used to having no snow so decided to explode cottonwood everywhere.

We don't build any time into our school days for the kids to just visit with each other & then we wonder why they get off task so easily with their friends. Don't say "they're there to learn not socialize." There's more to school than just downloading information.

Had a GREAT three day weekend. Time with family, friends, and to relax. Try to lesson plan for the coming week this evening and I can’t log in to any of my school accounts. 😧 Something about the STS token/server/something not working. Tomorrow morning should be interesting…

“No, guns are the problem.” That is the response to every excuse, distraction, and straw man. Practice it. Use it. Guns are the problem. Period.

Do people realize Robb Elementary doubled its spend on school security since 2017? They had a fence. They had surveillance. They had officers on duty. They had shooter drill trainings. ALL OF IT FAILED. The problem is easy access to guns. It's always been guns. ADDRESS THE GUNS

This is the most impactful floor speech I’ve heard all year. Listen to Senator Moss. #UvaldeMassacre – at Livonia, MI
Republicans blocked a vote on our #gunsafety bills & tried to cut me off from speaking. I’m fed up with the complacent & complicit line that now is not the time for debate. We didn’t just introduce these bills this morning — they’ve languished in committee for YEARS. Let’s act!

Twice a year I have to stop my lesson in order to teach my kids to hide. We practice being silent and staying out of view. Sometimes when the principal or sheriff come to check that my door is locked a child jumps because it scares them.

I have been teaching for 16 years and have had to have these moments twice per year. I know why we do the drills - it’s reducing loss if a tragic event were to happen. What if we just stopped the tragic events? What if we ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING ABOUT GUNS in this country?

Other countries have video games (that’s why Columbine happened, remember?). Other countries have mental illness. Other countries have schools. Other countries don’t go through this. Our government needs to get off their ass and keep kids and teachers safe.
