NPR’s @ndm_visuals and @TomDreisbach reviewed more than 1000 videos on the Dan Bongino Show and found he frequently denounced the bureau he now leads Top FBI official Dan Bongino pushed conspiracies on podcast npr.org/2025/03/03/nx-s1-530…

New deputy FBI director Dan Bongino previously called for imprisoning Democrats

Before becoming the second-in-command at the FBI, Dan Bongino used his popular podcast to spread conspiracy theories about the Jan. 6 attack. Here's what else he said.

Wildlife Services is a USDA program that kills 100s of 1000s of noninvasive wild animals a year. Officials told NPR feds only kill those animals when they attack livestock or cause damage. Gov files @ndm_visuals & I obtained show that's not true: tinyurl.com/2mcpnwcz

'That's a bloodbath': How a federal program kills wildlife for private interests

A federal program kills hundreds of thousands of wild animals a year. Documents obtained by NPR show that many of those animals were killed in places where no damage to livestock was reported.

Last week, 16 members of Congress signed a letter urging NOAA to better protect Rice's whalesβ€”one of the most endangered species on Earthβ€”citing our @NPR investigation last yr and our findings. I'm proud and hopeful. This stuff works! Here's the letter...documentcloud.org/documents/…

Last week I went to Texas β€” ground 0 for the bird flu spreading across the U.S. β€” to buy raw milk and test it for the flu. Why? Feds have advised against drinking raw milk amidst this outbreak but the milk is still for sale. What’s the risk to consumers? We could find out…

When @NPR reported on the lack of U.S. protections for hyper endangered Rice's whales β€” there're only ~51 left in the Gulf x Mexico β€” we used *giga*bytes of data to show readers the risk of speedy ships. Here's how @ndm_visuals and @danielpwwood did it: blog.apps.npr.org/2024/02/12…

How we used gigabytes of shipping data to show risks to endangered whales

The Rice’s whales’ habitat in the Gulf of Mexico is a thoroughfare of massive, fast-moving ships. Here’s how we analyzed and visualized the potential impact of those ships.

Only 51 of these whales remain in the Gulf of Mexico. The US is required to protect them. But NOAA has repeatedly delayed adopting measures and following rules to prevent their extinction. From @ndm_visuals and I, with a look at AIS data to show risks: tinyurl.com/kp4spj4h

Only 51 of these U.S. whales remain. Little has been done to prevent their extinction

Rice's whales are one of the world's newly discovered whale species – and already one of the most endangered. Protections for the whales in the Gulf of Mexico are not coming fast.

Check out this graphic we made based on the reporting (thanks @ndm_visuals). Most of the people I spoke w/ worked inside the death chamber. Of those, none expressed support for executions afterwards, even those that started their jobs in favor of capital punishment. None.

AZ executed a prisoner today. TX may execute another this evening. Behind the scenes, 100s of workers participate. They almost never talk to the public. But I found 26 involved w/ 200+ executions across 17 states. What they said may surprise you (1/5) tinyurl.com/432renv6

Carrying out executions took a secret toll on workers β€” then changed their politics

NPR spoke with 26 people who were involved with more than 200 executions across the country. Most said their health suffered and they had little support to help them cope with their unusual jobs.
