A nice piece, but also a great example of how repeatedly mainstream neuroscience routinely overlooks the insights of neuroethologists who have been making these claims and employing these ideas for decades.

Reminder: The tools that protect us from COVID — masks, air filters, and structural policies like expanded healthcare access — are the tools that we need to protect us from the climate crisis, which is causing a decrease in air quality and increase of disease outbreaks.

Do you love data science and want to cry? Do you want to see the UGLIEST #rstats plot to ever exist? Look no further because my students crushed their good plot/bad plot assignment and really took making the worst plots possible to heart. #ggplot🧵⬇️

An incredibly kind person and a phenomenal birder, César Castillo, passed away earlier this week. César was the person who opened my world up to birds. Please consider donating to a gofundme to help his wife and kids with medical and living costs: gofundme.com/f/support-wendy…

I was recently interviewed by @Megan_Nicolett @WIRED about body horror and the insular cortex! We discussed an HR Giger inspired survival body horror video game @scorn_game and its relationship to embodied cognition and the neuroscience of disgust. wired.com/story/game-horror-…

Looks like a wonderful visit. Nice to see Graduate Center Ph.D. student @neuroprototype in the video (at 1:36) in the lab of Prof. Sebastian Alvarado (@Sebcredible)! @GradCenterBio
Her Majesty Queen Diambi Kabatusuila Tshiyoyo Muata of the Democratic Republic of Congo came to campus last week. A @CUNY alumna, Queen Diambi stopped by the lab of @Sebcredible & @MaralTajerian (Biology) to learn about their research. ow.ly/nw7450LKTsV

I already decided I would address this issue, with that post being the first step. But, after reading your harrowing stories and hearing from multiple black women on the brink of ending thier postdocs due to overwhelming Childcare costs, I've decided to take immediate action.
A postdoc with a newborn just told me daycare in Boston is ~$30,000/year 🤯 Despite having dual incomes, the cost is so prohibitive they are considering just going into industry... I wish there was a mechanism similar to the NIH Diversity Supplement to help parents with new borns
