- Automatic 24/7 rebalancing (yes, the best rebalances happen while you sleep)
> axios: @visa in late-stage talks to buy @FireblocksHQ for ~$2.5b
> fireblocks: "news to us, and not true at present time"
"at present time" is doing a lot of work there lol
Visa is in late-stage talks to buy Fireblocks for ~$2.5bn (Axios)
That is roughly 70% below the $8bn valuation Fireblocks raised at in 2022.
Fireblocks runs custody and wallet infrastructure for 2,400+ institutions, including BNY Mellon and BNP Paribas, and says it has secured over $10tn in transfers. It has become the biggest player in digital asset custody.
But increasingly it's expanding in more directions and product cross-sell, while underneath, competitors like DFNS are winning market share and mind share. Fireblocks hasn't raised in a while.
Visa's stablecoin settlement crossed a $20bn annualized run rate in September, up 15x in a year, with 160+ stablecoin-linked card programs live. They're arguably ahead on stablecoin-linked cards.
Then Mastercard bought BVNK, Visa's settlement and OTC partner. While Fireblocks isn't a like-for-like (Visa now partners with many in that space), it does take custody, arguably a harder piece to do in-house.
And the strategy here is fascinating to observe
To my mind, Visa wants to be the provider of choice for any FI going onchain, especially the big banks. Fireblocks is a large book of enterprise clients and fits exactly where I think Visa is going.
Cards are where stablecoins drive Visa today.
As settlement for non-card payments starts to go onchain, Visa needs the wallet and custody plumbing underneath those flows. Fireblocks then looks like a logical play.
Visa gets the enterprise relationships and the plumbing in one deal. Fireblocks customers now have a custody vendor owned by a card network, and some exchanges and Mastercard-aligned banks will think twice. DFNS and the rest now compete with a vendor that has Visa's sales team already inside the big banks.
It reminds me that Standard Chartered also said it would take full ownership of Zodia Custody.
Digital asset custody is consolidating into the incumbents.
Visa paid $2bn for CyberSource in 2010 to own the e-commerce gateway. (Arguably no longer *the default* gateway, but certainly one that's very successful at least in part due to Visa's market distribution).
This is that play for onchain.
For Fireblocks, this is a down round and a half if it happens. But not dissimilar from what we've seen in SaaS with bending spoons. A lot of companies got bid up high in the 2021 era, and no matter how successful and how much revenue they pile on, it's still big shoes to fill.
Fireblocks is a talent team, so I wish them well if this is true or not. Either way. Keep doing things.
Visa and Fireblocks both sponsor tokenized, but as you'd hopefully imagine, I have no insight or color on this from either team and haven't spoken to anyone there about it.

I am starting to believe more and more @Zyfai_ will acquire a HUGE market share in DeFi
The risk/reward of their protocol is THAT good. With crazy good yields anyway.
And now, more than any other time, people want a good Risk VS. Reward
$ZFI
so the first genius act rule is final (occ, kicks in jan 18) and existing stablecoin rewards get no safe harbor
honestly not surprised. "5% on your usdc" from a cex was always just the exchange lending your money somewhere and keeping the rest
onchain yield is gonna look a lot better now because it's paid from a real onchain activity
DeFi will win
No more hopping between apps: you can now deposit into Zyfai with any token, from any chain ⬆️
Have USDC on @arbitrum but want to earn yield on cbBTC on @base? No problem.
Choose the token you have and the asset you want to earn on. Zyfai handles the swap, bridge and deposit in one flow.
See it in action 👇
Where your assets earn this week ⬆️
Stablecoins:
→ USDC: 12.80% APY, @noon_capital Ecosystem Vault on @Morpho
→ EURC: 7.48% APY, @SteakhouseFi Prime EURC on @Morpho
Crypto:
→ WETH: 6.13% APY, @ClearstarLabs Core ETH V2 on @Morpho
→ cbBTC: 3.09% APY, @gauntlet_xyz cbBTC Core on @Morpho
Tokenized stocks:
→ GOOGLc: 30.94% APY, Alphabet SuperVault on @superformxyz

→ NVDAc: 26.41% APY, NVIDIA SuperVault on @superformxyz
→ METAc: 21.27% APY, META IPOR Carry Trade on @ipor_io
Keep control of your yield strategy without managing every pool manually. Your Yield Account handles risk monitoring, compounding and rebalancing based on your strategy.

prepping my week with some facts worth knowing so you’re up to speed on what’s happening.
> AI stocks had a rough week. Nasdaq 100 fell 5.5%. investors question AI infrastructure spending (SICK)
> @Anthropic is giving back. 5% equity for public benefit. AI’s societal impact takes center stage (Not buying it)
> faster ethereum finality is getting closer. @barnabemonnot says research is maturing.
> speed solved. security next. @VitalikButerin shifts focus to zkEVM security.
> AI agents are going onchain. @MetaMask expands agent wallet integrations. Grok, Cursor, OpenClaw.
> crypto lending keeps growing. DeFi vaults exceed $10 billion. regulators are watching the risks (had a good roundtable at @token2049 with @goatv_bk and team, will share more)
> china wants tighter AI controls. 23 AI technologies face proposed restrictions. global AI competition keeps intensifying.
> glamsterdam is almost here. Hoodi testnet activates october 26.
> need to learn more on quantum from @drakefjustin
> another milestone for stablecoins. @circle’s USDC gets significant MiCA status
big tech earnings are coming. Tesla and Meta report wednesday. AI spending remains under scrutiny. let's see
lots happening beyond the charts. if i am missing anything please comment
h/t @abcoathup for the ethereum roundup.
Singapore, what a week 🇸🇬
@token2049, side events, our founder @goatv_bk on stage, a chat with @jessepollak about Zyfai, and F1 with our partners at @owneydotapp.
Thanks to everyone who made time to meet and catch up.
Here's our week in 48 seconds 👇
back from Singapore, so here are my takeaways from @token2049 🇸🇬
> the best conversations happened at side events, worth the trip alone. met teams building products we want to integrate into Zyfai, and teams interested in integrating us
> big folks like @StaniKulechov and @jessepollak are surprisingly approachable and genuinely interested in what you're building
> left the @arbitrum and @base events even more motivated to build
> people finally care about revenue, harder fundraising feels healthy for crypto: more of the money goes to teams that can actually build and execute, and already showed early adoption signs rather than teams with a good story and little to show
> equity came up way more than tokens in VC talks
> institutions and VCs got super excited about options, could be one of the next big narratives. also met builders working on products in this space, including lending protocols that use options to hedge risk
> spoke to trading teams about putting idle capital to work through Zyfai between trades, excited for that specific usecase
> many years of talking about RWAs, and finally tokenized stocks are blowing up in growth. I can see @Zyfai_ growing 100x as more capital comes onchain
> so many builders are planning to head to Bangkok, so glad I already live here.
> great food, no traffic jams, cute Singlish, but prices 10x Bangkok
> dudududu Max Verstappen!

Will AI agents take our jobs… or make us richer?
Some see AI agents as a threat to their jobs. Others see a way to get more done, build faster, and make more money with less effort.
So what happens when AI agents become part of how we work and make money?
we’re bringing industry voices together to discuss what’s actually changing and where things are heading.
Topic: Will AI agents take our jobs… or just make us richer?
