The next Western leader on his state visit to Malaysia teapawt.net/kunley_drukpa/status/2…
China puts data centers in Malaysia to get access to compute they can't get in China due to sanctions. The US puts data centers in Malaysia because every state bans data centers. AGI happens. Malaysia nationalizes all the data centers and becomes the sole hegemon of the world.

Quick! Get Steve on that government dating app
Steve, a tiny dibbler at Perth Zoo, reportedly helped save his endangered species without ever becoming a father. Female dibblers prefer larger mates, and Steve was too small and apparently didn't smell appealing. Keepers used him as the first male females encountered during breeding trials. After meeting Steve, females found the next males more attractive and were more willing to mate. According to the zoo, Steve lived a long life as an unlikely conservation hero.

Liu Bei was purely a warlord of chaotic times; his Shu Han regime levied extremely heavy taxes and the people lived in misery. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is written entirely from the perspective of the Han imperial house and the vested interests. The one who truly tried to

Was having family time at the hotel pool in Kuala Lumpur, got to talk with a 9yo. He said he loves rockets, but hates Elon Musk Image relevant
The amount of pro-Elon bots on this site are ridiculous. Ain’t no way this many people support this literal comic book supervillain.

“Trick or Treat!” “This is not a registered household for the Resident Network’s Trick or Treat programme, which exists so that participating households can prepare a set amount of treats based on a confirmed number of child participants. Unregistered households which have made no contributions are prohibited from participating as this is unfair to registered households. According to Singapore Law Trick or Treat-ing at this household therefore carries a fine of SG$300”
This is the most Singaporean thing ever lol

Today I want to show you something I never saw anywhere else But I see them all over Portugal (and apparently Spain too) They're giant warehouses in the middle of nowhere with big red signs saying MEGA CHINA, HIPER CHINA, MAXI CHINA, or even GRANDE CHINA They're shops by Chinese immigrants from a single place in China, the Zheijang province (where Alibaba is also from) The story is that they came to Southern Europe in the 1990s and 2000s and built these shops They started as small shops but then during the financial crisis in 2008, there was suddenly lots of super cheap warehouses from bankrupt Portuguese companies so they took them over and turned their tiny shops into massive stores Now they're anything but small, they're MEGA CHINA It's a tight family run network with a few distribution hubs that supply the shops and in the hubs then get supplied by container ships from China. Way more advanced than I first thought China is everywhere, even in the middle of nowhere in Portugal! (Part 2 in reply)

The lore on Javin is incredible. Crypto bro just like the rest of us he lost enough money on LUNA to buy a landed house but grinded it out and is now winning international tailor awards. He made my wedding suit too. Top tier Singaporean.

There is no way the buildings on the top here cost more to build than the buildings on the bottom (Stockholm and Kiev serves as examples) but builders and developers and architects like to claim beauty is expensive. What we can tell though is that actual beauty adds on average 15% to the price of individual new builds and that the value increase compounds when you have entire streets and ensembles built in a harmonious style.

If you've ever wondered why smart TVs are so cheap, this is why. @log4j rooted his Samsung and found an always-on hot mic, automatic content recognition, geolocation, network mapping, ad targeting and user profiling, shared with Samsung's "400 partners". A lot of it can be blocked in <15 min, wrote a basic guide below. What your TV is doing The main culprit is ACR (automatic content recognition). Your TV screenshots what's on screen, fingerprints it, and sends it home to build your ad profile. Samsung does it every 500ms, LG every 10ms [1]. What is insane: it happens on connected devices too. Plug in your laptop, your console, your work machine, and your TV can fingerprint that via HDMI [1]. He also found that if your Samsung doesn't have a mic, it'll look for one from a connected soundbar or bluetooth device. teapawt.net/log4j/status/211376224… It's on by default, and you likely agreed to it on the setup screen you clicked through in 10 seconds. Step 1: Turn off ACR Samsung: Terms & Privacy → Viewing Information Services LG: Live Plus Vizio: Viewing Data Roku: "Use info from TV inputs" Sony/Google TV: Samba Interactive TV Menus vary by model, but those are the names to look for. While you're in there, opt out of interest-based ads, reset your advertising ID, decline every optional privacy agreement, turn off voice recognition, and delete apps you never open. Step 2: Give smart devices their own network Put the TV, cameras, speakers and vacuum on your router's guest/IoT network. The logic is simple: these devices rarely get patched. If one gets compromised (getting drastically more frequent with AI), it shouldn't be able to see your other devices or home network. Step 3: Block trackers for the whole house with DNS-level filtering NextDNS (cloud-based) is easy and has a solid free plan. Pi-hole is a little bit more work if you prefer self hosting. For simplicity we'll focus on the former. 1. Sign up at nextdns.io (free tier is plenty) 2. Privacy tab: add a blocklist (OISD is a good bet) and turn on Native Tracking Protection for Samsung, LG, Roku, Amazon (see attached image) 3. Setup tab: copy your endpoint 4. Paste it into your router's DNS settings as DNS-over-HTTPS/TLS (or use the IPs + "Link IP" if your router only does plain DNS) 5. Bonus: block outbound port 53 except to your router. Some devices hardcode their own DNS to get around you Then open the NextDNS logs and watch how often your TV phones home. It's eye-opening. If an app or update breaks, find the domain in the logs and allowlist it. Why they do this TV prices are down 97% since 2000 [2]. Most of that is better manufacturing and brutal competition. But once margins on the hardware hit zero, the cost moved to you. In Q3 2024, Vizio lost $6.7M selling TVs and made $115.8M in gross profit from ads and viewing data [3]. They've said on earnings calls that they keep TV prices low to grow the audience they sell to advertisers. Walmart bought them in 2024. This isn't a conspiracy theory either. Vizio paid $2.2M to the FTC in 2017 for tracking 11 million TVs without consent. Last December, Texas sued Samsung, LG, Sony, Hisense and TCL over ACR. Samsung and LG have since agreed to stop collecting that data without explicit consent [4]. TL;DR 1. ACR off 2. Ads + voice off 3. Smart devices on their own network 4. NextDNS filtering on the router Sources: [1] ACR study: arxiv.org/abs/2409.06203 [2] Cost of US consumer goods: aei.org/economics/chart-of-t… [3] Vizio Q3 2024: sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/… [4] Texas v. this is pretty evil and clever. so if your samsung TV model doesnt have a microphone, it will look for connected devices with one, such as a soundbar or a connected bluetooth device. this gets shipped off to bixby.

In the modern international order Bukele has emerged as one of the only lions able to serve as a head of state and keep his own head Lee Kuan Yew levels of transformational leadership for his people History may have restarted in the most unlikely of all places El Salvador
Staying at Airbnb’s became too stressful. Checking out you’d have to take a video of the place so that the “host” didn’t make something up. I hope the company fails. They let this stuff go on for several years too long.
Too many people with zero customer service skills decided they wanted to run a single Ritz Carlton and provide Motel 6 service. If you want to see some Karen’s losing their ever loving minds over this new policy, go lurk in the Airbnb & STR Facebook groups. “Boycott! Strike!” Man, get over yourselves. People are on vacation AND they pay you a “cleaning fee”.
