Book by book, shelf by shelf—centuries of Gaza’s memory are being reduced to ash.
🧵Scroll down for a devastating inventory of destruction: each post documents a library or museum erased:

A great review from @TheTLS for @nicholsonbaker8's book, Finding a Likeness: "It is a collection that insists on the value of observational practice."

Ben Street likes my book! So happy about this
'When he first attempts observational drawing, sketching a view of the outside of his home, the result feels attentive and tender; it feels true.'

If you know me you know I love books about books! I wrote about five of my favorites for @TheAtlantic theatlantic.com/books/archiv…
Hi all - I'm going off X/Twitter and Instagram for a while to work on some things. Thank you very much for inspiration and encouragement!
Loop drawing of my dad that I did on Father's Day a few years ago, along with one of his ink drawings, "Gardener's Chair."
Happy Father's Day everybody! I'm celebrating with my beloved wife and grown children and their dear partners and our soulful dog and I'm feeling like the luckiest person in the world. Here are some fathers and children I drew for Reddit Gets Drawn.
I'm rereading Jill Lepore's essay in "The Deadline" on Rachel Carson. The Atlantic rejected Carson's "The Sea Around Us" because it was "too poetic," Lepore writes. The New Yorker published it in 1951 in three parts; it was on the NY Times bestseller list for 86 weeks.
Here's what I hope is a better version of this morning's drawing of Elisa Gabbert. "I have long felt I’m saving Moby-Dick for an unclear future experience, some contained and isolating context it deserves—a long sea voyage, my deathbed.” @egabbert #findingalikeness

"Some people say rereading is the only reading, but sometimes Ithink first readings are the only rereading. This isn't total nonsense. First readings are when I pay the most attention, do the most doubling back. They're when I have the most capacity for shock and joy." @egabbert
