For me, Graceland is a masterpiece - certainly the greatest album of the 1980s. So this is a difficult and challenging listen. Necessarily so.
Four decades later Paul Simon’s Graceland is still the first encounter most international audiences had with South African music. But can you divorce the sound from the politics of the time?

📣 Some news about me:
Yesterday (Wednesday) I was detained by police in Istanbul, held for 17 hours and then deported from Turkey to the UK. Told I was “a threat to public order”. In the country I lived in - and love.

This is on today @BBCRadio4 at 1600 BST; an extraordinary story about the lost archives of the Great #JamesBaldwin in the Côte D’Azur and the woman who has lovingly taken care of them. Made and narrated @tonyphillips40 (who is also great!) 📻📚bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0021vy…
It's so interesting to read analysis/commentary on what it took for JZ to be expelled from the party. Up to this point since he left office, not much talk about state capture. It's disloyalty that did it. A master strategist
As Jacob Zuma’s expulsion from the ANC was confirmed on Monday, a top official from his former party accused him of frustrating the process so as to make as big a spectacle as possible.
“Jacob Zuma wanted a movie,” said Fikile Mbalula: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjr4…
