I just met with @garyvee and told him about 3 ways he changed my life: 1) 2017 - daily vlogging 📹 I’d been grafting away at my soccer company making social content to promote it on snapchat. I’d upload the snap stories to YouTube with a SEO title. I’d do this in mornings, lunch breaks and evenings whilst working a banking job at UBS. From 2014-17, it took me 3 years to get to 10k subs on my biggest channel then, YouTube. This is around the same time Gary was doing DailyVee which was a daily vlog of his life/meetings/etc filmed by @davidrocknycz, which I watched religiously. Inspired by creators like him and @Casey I launched the 100 days to pro contract daily series. Daily documenting of my journey using my own app, Train Effective. It blew up. I got it to 50k YouTube subs and millions of views (big deal at the time)! 2) 2018 - hacker house 🏠 Gary once said something like “live with 10 roommates in a shitty apartment and build your startup” So that’s what I did. I quit my cushy banking job, moved away from gf and moved to London - the world’s capital of soccer. With the savings I had and bit of traction generated from the vlog, I went all into getting 4 other early believers who knew me from social media and put a deposit down to rent this North London loft house. So everyone flew from all over the world and we lived, worked, built and played soccer at the Effective House. The main thing we did here is build the app. The word spread. Top designers and coders worked for basically free in return for free accomodation and food. After 2 years of hard graft, this resulted in us launching the app with none other then Manchester United great, Rio Ferdinand who generously contributed his time and image to helping us. We launched to his millions of followers and credibility on socials. Forbes, Sportbible, etc they all covered us. 3) 2020 - tiktok 📱 “Post 4x a day on TikTok and never look back” - something Gary said We were posting on IG, FB and YouTube in late 2019 and we were growing.. slowly. Still at around 60-70k total followers at this time and a couple 1000 downloads in TOAL of our app.. we were struggling to grow. Early 2020 I told the team - Gary’s a prophet, let’s follow his advice. 4x posts a day, let’s go! And we saw the results.. QUICKLY. Every week we were hitting millions of views and growing fast! To the point where we started getting thousands of downloads a week just from TikTok 📈 Today, we have over 4.5 million followers of the Train Effective brand, over 2 million downloads of our app. We do soccer camps too now and we’re getting 100’s of players fly over to London every year which is nuts considering where we were. New sports launching soon too. Consuming Gary’s advice over the years helped so much with where we are today. And it’s only the beginning. He’s extending himself through @veefriends and building something bigger than himself. Whatever Gary does next, you can be sure I’ll be listening intently 😉 Great meeting you G 🤝 Anything is possible, let’s go! 🔥 🔥

Comparison has so many you all fucked up and unfortunately, most of the times you compare against things that are vain or materialistic or optics when in reality, you have absolutely no idea what’s going on in someone’s actual life and for many of you if you just valued simple things the great simple things you have you’d be walking around with a smile every hour every day every month every year❤️❤️❤️

i wonder if jose will give harry a call tonight
I remember watching Harry Kane sit down with Jose Mourinho in the Tottenham All or Nothing documentary. Kane told him: “I want to be Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.” I remember thinking... "wow. That’s ambitious of him." Kane was already one of the best strikers in the world at the time but, putting yourself in that conversation felt like another level. Six years later, he’s arguably the best centre forward in world football and could finish the year with the Ballon d’Or.. Today, England were heading out of the World Cup until the 75th minute. Then Kane scored a good header with a great bit of movement... ⚽️ A few minutes later, a rocket of a second goal fuelled by grit. England’s hero when they needed one. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Will he ever be viewed in the same category as Messi and Ronaldo? Well a few big competition trophies would help his cause. But he could genuinely win the Ballon d’Or this year. And that says something. There’s something powerful about saying an ambition out loud that it sounds delusional. Then accepting that it might take years of training, setbacks and consistency before others start believing it too. The goal can sound unrealistic at the beginning. Then the work starts making it harder to dismiss. Well done Harry Kane!

At first I thought this was AI 😂 This is actually a basketball court inside the Crumbl founder’s home, powered by millions of LEDs underneath a glass floor. You can change court markings, draw on the floor and display interactive graphics. Imagine the possibilities for coaching and training. It’s already being used in professional basketball, although there are still some issues with grip and a reported $2.5m price tag. Makes me wonder what sports training facilities will look like in 10–20 years.

this weekend i binged this chinese factory worker in china he earns $700-800 / month (quite good apparently) he documents his daily life.. from waking up surrounded by factories, the food he eats, what he does for fun and the dorm he shares with his roommate who smokes indoors, talks loud and couldn't give af. it's such a surreal slice of a life to see with perfect authenticity. so many of the comments are westerners just being grateful they don't have to live like him. kang has got 17k YT subs and has just turned on monetisation. now people are sending loads of small donations. that's gonna go a long way to changing his life. what a world! go check him out!

This club has a stadium that holds just 2,431 fans... Yet they're guaranteed to earn at least €5 MILLION from football this season. HOW!? Meet: @scu_torreense A club located about 35 miles north of Lisbon that hasn't played top flight footy since 1992. Last season, they pulled off something extraordinary. They beat giants @SportingCP 2-1 in the Portuguese Cup final, becoming the first 2nd-division club to win the competition. That victory earned them €325k in prize money but, MORE importantly, secured qualification for the @EuropaLeague And that's where things get interesting financially.. According to their 2024/25 accounts, Torreense generated approximately €3.4 million in annual income. Their Europa League qualification alone is expected to bring in at least €5 million, almost 1.5x their previous annual income! And there's potentially much more to come. They've already won their opening European match away against @LillestromSK in Norway and tonight they're hosting prem side @SunderlandAFC. Well.. actually.. technically they're not hosting them at home. Their 2,431-capacity stadium doesn't meet UEFA's requirements, so they're having to play their European home matches almost 50 miles away in Leiria. So imagine being a 2nd div club playing against the B teams of Benfica, Porto and Sporting one week, then facing Sunderland, Celtic and Real Sociedad in Europe. One other detail I found interesting.. Only 4 of Torreense's 32 senior squad players are Portuguese. They've recruited 19 players from 10 different countries this summer. Having run our @TrainEffective Elite Camp in Portugal in 2025, I've become increasingly interested in the opportunities Portuguese football offers international players. Portugal is an attractive destination for foreign players looking to build a career in European football because of their more relaxed rules. But all in all, Torreense are a fascinating example of what can happen when a relatively small club gets its recruitment right and goes on an extraordinary cup run. Their CEO has already spoken about using the European windfall "responsibly", investing in the club's infrastructure and building something sustainable. I hope they do. Because as incredible as this season already is, the opportunity to build something that lasts beyond it might be even bigger! Football really does produce some incredible stories. Fascinating!
🔵🔴 TORREENSE vs SUNDERLAND 🔴⚪️ Tonight, a second-division Portuguese side will face a Premier League club in the UEFA Europa League. 👀 This is the beauty of European football. 🫶

Simon stops the session over something tiny. Where are you looking? Why the extra step? Can you do it cleaner? That level of detail is hard for young players to see themselves.

This group of PART-TIMERS just won the Australian equivalent of the FA Cup and not enough people are talking about it!! ⚽ 🏆 🇦🇺 When I played NPL football in Australia as a youngster, the Australia Cup didn’t exist yet. But it’s a competition I would have loved to play in. 777 clubs started this year’s cup. KO round format until they meet the pro clubs in the round of 32 stage. So seeing South Melbourne FC beat Melbourne Victory in front of 29,000 people to become the first club outside the A-Leagues to win it… this is special! 🏆 For my friends in the UK, imagine a National League club winning the FA Cup and earning a place in the Europa League. That’s the sort of comparison we’re talking about. South have now qualified for the 2027/28 AFC Champions League Two (Asia’s equivalent of the Europa League). In this seasons edition, you got teams in there like Shanghai Shenhua, Persib and FC Seoul. So I got curious about what that actually means financially. The Australia Cup winner’s prize is only AU $50,000. The continental opportunity is much bigger. Using the current AFC payment structure as a guide: - US $300,000 for participating in the Asian group stage. - US $50,000 extra for every group-stage win. - US $80,000 for reaching the last 16, another US$160,000 for the quarter-finals and another US$240,000 for the semi-finals. - US $2.5 million extra if they somehow go all the way and win it. A perfect campaign would total US$3.6 million. But of course, there’s the commercial opportunity: continental home games, more exposure for sponsors, socials, merch, new fans. PLENTY for the club to build on! Even two group wins and a place in the last 16 would mean US $480K in AFC payments under that structure. You don’t need to win it to make a huge difference for a semi pro side. It reminds me a little of Auckland City getting to play at the Club World Cup last year. I’d expect a less extreme gap in quality here, but there’s that same excitement of seeing a club from our part of the world step onto a much bigger stage. @smfc have a proud history (Ange Postecoglou once captained the club under then manager Ferenc Puskás) and are already moving towards pro football through the new Oceania league. Still, this is a huge opportunity for a club outside the A-League. @FootballAUS deserves credit for creating more of these opportunities. The Cup has been running since 2014 and the Australian Championship launched last year. It’s giving local clubs more national attention and more chances to test themselves against "the best". For me, seeing teams I played for and against involved in these competitions makes it especially enjoyable. I would have loved that chance as a player. Lovely to see this generation getting it! 🙌
🏆🇦🇺 SECOND TIER SOUTH MELBOURNE FC HAVE JUST WON THE AUSTRALIAN CUP!!! THEY’VE BEATEN THEIR PROFESSIONAL MELBOURNE RIVALS MELBOURNE VICTORY ON PENALTIES TO BECOME THE FIRST SECOND TIER CLUB TO WIN THE TROPHY!!! WHAT A MOMENT!!!

“Stay on it.” “If he doesn’t come to you, stay on it.” “They’ve got to come to you.” For a young defender, that calmness is such an underrated skill. @TrainEffective

Why do some players look completely in control while others panic on the ball? It's not always about having more time. Sometimes, it's about believing you belong there. This player doesn't rush because he trusts his ability. He knows he can handle the ball, so he gives himself time to make the right decision 👏
