They do. But the storage space used is paid for by the Trust.
So, going forward, on leaving a trust, you'll have to subscribe to their data retention plan.
This subscription is work related, so your new trust will reimburse you for it through an expense claim.
Obviously only upto a certain limit, so as to penalise the hardest working.
The original Trust, of course, are not responsible for the safe storage of the data. It can be deleted at any time should anyone make an error and there will be no repercussions or data recovery option.
