$55 Million of that Net Profit was from Interest.

This is not a typo.
They do not make money.
This is a bubble.

We filed charges against Meta Materials Inc & its former CEOs, John Brda & George Palikaras. The company has agreed to settle the charges in an administrative proceeding, while the litigation against Brda & Palikaras will proceed in federal district court. sec.gov/news/press-release/2…

ALT “The conduct we allege was a sophisticated, yet brazen plan by a public company and its former CEOs to purposely mislead investors in the company’s stock. This conduct is particularly alarming because it involves public company CEOs who were more concerned with ‘burning the shorts’ than creating long-term value for shareholders.” - Eric Werner, Director, Fort Worth Regional Office | sec.gov

The Fed's QT since 2022 sucked cash reserves out of small banks more quickly than large banks this time.
Small banks are already back at cash ratios they reached during the 2019 repo spike, while large banks aren't yet.

What this is saying is corps/SMEs are maybe not getting all their deposits back because USTs and AFS securities are gonna get sold into the market at a loss. So corporate depositors eat financial system duration losses.

Let’s call a spade a spade shall we?
JPM on $SIVB:
“Out of SIVB’s $173 billion of customer deposits at the end of 2022, $152 billion were reportedly uninsured (i.e., over the $250,000 FDIC insurance threshold) and only $4.8 billion were fully insured. It is fair to ask about the underwriting discipline of VC firms that put most of their liquidity in a single bank with this kind of deposit profile.”
