We are calling on one million people to confirm their organ donation decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register this #OrganDonationWeek.
It takes just two minutes to register, and each donor could save up to nine lives. 🩷

A statistic which shocks:
Only 1% of people will ever be able to go on to be an organ donor. That’s why it’s important opportunities for donation aren’t missed because families say no as they are unaware of their loved ones’ decision. organdonationni.info/registe….

Mark Hughes was fit and healthy until suddenly, out of the blue, he became very unwell and was told his kidneys were failing and his only hope was a kidney transplant. Thankfully he received that transplant in 2023 and he hasn't looked back.

Having received 2 life-saving liver transplants after becoming seriously ill unexpectedly, Sharon Millen is making her donors proud every day. She is a @TEAM_TSNI athlete, competing on the world stage, and gives back as a volunteer with @GroupRvh.

Families are always involved in organ donation discussions. You can make things easier by telling them your decision.
90% of families support organ donation when they’re certain of a loved one’s decision; when they’re unsure this drops to just 50%.

Did you know: no one is automatically added to the @NHSOrganDonor Register? Unless you add your details no record will be held. You can opt-in, opt-out or amend your decision at any time. The choice is yours but please register it and share with family. organdonationni.info

A very impactful study day for @NHSCTrust clinical staff. Attendees heard first hand some powerful stories about the importance of organ donation in saving and transforming lives from those who have received the #GiftOfLife, or whose loved one saved lives.💗

It means if organ donation is a possibility after you die, it will be considered that you agree to being an organ donor unless you choose to opt out.

How is the opt-out law for organ donation making a difference?
Last year, Daíthí’s Law helped support over a third of the 54 proceeding organ donors here!
