It's heartbreaking to witness the deteriorating state of North Street and Donegall Street in Belfast. Protecting our built heritage is vitally important, and these new aerial pictures highlight the importance of doing so before it is too late...

Great news! Work on the new Knockbreda Road pedestrian crossing is set to begin in early November, which should allow the Cherryvale Park gate to open shortly afterwards 😍
Love seeing so many Hopp e-bikes at the top of the Ormeau! Now we need to join up S. Belfast’s active travel network. Opening Cherryvale Gate, building the Ravenhill Rd protected cycle lane and delivering the Gasworks bridge would completely transform everyday cycling here.
Used them to get to parkrun last week and was super impressed. Great fun and so handy for short trips. A wee bit pricey (£3.50 from Rosetta to Ormeau Pk), but hard to beat for the convenience. Get 3x as many out there with some safe cycle lanes and they could be transformative.

Excellent thread Jamie, thank you. The City of Belfast Electric Light Station sounds like an amazing post-covid venue doesn't it? @maevemonaghan
Another fantastic turnout for July's Critical Mass Belfast. Great to see so many people out on their bikes, showing what Belfast could be when we make space for cycling, active travel and people. And as always great tunes from Bang Bang Bike and DJ Emma B...

Difficult to overstate the transformational effect the Fleadh Cheoil is already having on Belfast:
🔸️Streets for people, not cars
🔸️Main mode of accesa active & public transport (inc free shuttles)
🔸️Vacant buildings & spaces now exciting venues.
Inspiration Belfast!

It looks like Hopp Bikes are in Belfast now. You can rent and pay as you go, similar to Belfast Bikes, but there's no docking station, you just use the app to find the closest vehicle

Now the Sailortown Bridge needs to follow quickly behind so residents can properly connect to the city centre, Titanic Quarter and York Street Train Station on foot and by bike.
New aerial views of Loft Lines as construction progresses towards completion later this year. The development will deliver 778 apartments across 3 residential blocks, including social and affordable housing, alongside a new riverside promenade, public park and rooftop terraces
The Ormeau was once again absolutely buzzing on Sunday for the marathon. Huge crowds, live music, packed pubs, cafes and restaurants. It felt more like a mini street festival, and it would be great to build on that next year.
It would create space for even more street events, live music and food stalls, make things safer for runners and spectators, and the road could reopen fully at 4:30pm as normal.
