ProPublica: Trump Appointees Wanted a Voting Machine Hacked
A few months into President Donald Trump’s second term, political appointees at the Department of Homeland Security made an unusual request of its agency focused on cybersecurity: Secretly acquire a voting machine and hack it.
The appointees wanted the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to procure the machine, examine it and report back the findings so they could be given to the White House, according to two former administration officials with knowledge of the request.

This video captures settlers beating Heidi. They clubbed her, kicked her. Pulled her up off the ground to beat her more. Robbed her of all her equipment. If she didn’t have a helmet—and if she was Palestinian—she could be dead.

Many on the left suspected this was the case, but it’s still wild to see the WSJ confirm it.
Needless to say, stripping the citizenship of opposition elected officials is really, really far down the road to fascism.

Designers and musicians these days have infinite access to every reference and tool to ever exist yet suffer from paralysis and the notion of having to do a technique the "right" way... Yet still come up sauceless. I think we need to ask ourselves WHY?
Earlier in my career, when I knew less, I was making more "interesting" work. When I was producing music, I had 1 or 2 drum packs, 1 of those small korg volca synths and I was making DOPE beats.
Pokémon Red for the gameboy was 373 kilobytes.
Liberate yourself from the notion that you must know everything to move forward. They're calling it something less savoury these days (somethingmaxxing) but there is freedom in knowing that your only toys are in your own sandbox.
feels relevant right now, so here is a clip of myself and @domesticetch discussing the art of gatekeeping, and why having less resources can be more critical to developing your own creative style

Three days before ICE fired seven rounds into a car with a 5yo inside, a federal judge found that an ICE supervisor signed a fraudulent arrest warrant. The agent's name is Brendan Cuni: the bum in the yellow vest: migrantinsider.com/p/the-ice…

This is absolutely wild per Status — ABC News completely retracted this story like two days ago just totally nuked it. No note, no explanation , no comment. It had been shared by tons of top lawmakers and democratic officials.

Yesterday, an ICE agent opened fire in Marble Hill. They shot a member of our community in the neck while he was in his car. His five-year-old kid was in a child seat in the back of the car when ICE agents fired at least 7 rounds into it. This was in the middle of the afternoon, with children walking home from school and people heading home from work. Federal agents put every one of them in danger.
When I was in Marble Hill last night I saw NYPD officers rapidly escalating violence. As I was trying to de-escalate, I was shoved to the ground by an officer. I witnessed unmarked law enforcement cars hitting protestors as NYPD officers pushed people out of its path. And instead of condemning ICE’s violence, Police Commissioner Tisch attempted to justify the shooting by reading off our neighbor’s past interactions with police.
The NYPD spent more time protecting a militia that just shot someone than protecting New Yorkers. Last night, the NYPD and Commissioner Tisch violated the spirit, if not the letter, of our sanctuary city policies and fueled the Trump Administration’s attempt to demonize our communities. The NYPD’s Strategic Response Group must be disbanded as quickly as possible, and Commissioner Tisch must step down.
In this district, there are mothers who are afraid to send their kids to school, workers who are afraid to show up for their shifts, and people who won’t call for help anymore because they can’t be sure who will come. That’s what it means to have a violent militia operating in your community. You don’t feel safe walking down your own street.
For decades, we’ve been told ICE can be fixed with more oversight, better training, or reform. But you can’t reform an agency whose purpose is to terrorize immigrant families. You can’t train cruelty out of a system built to enact cruelty. ICE must be abolished.
This moment demands that everyone step up. Elected officials at every level need to stop hedging and say it plainly: Abolish ICE now. Our city must enforce every sanctuary protection we have and city officials must ensure this cannot happen again.

In an obscene testament to how much power the Supreme Court has arrogated to itself in violation of our constitutional order, 36 sovereign states now have to supplicate before the 9 unelected aristocrats of this “court” for permission to do what every sovereign state has done throughout history — regulate gambling and ban rackets.
A broad coalition of 39 states just filed a brief urging the Supreme Court to let states regulate prediction companies like gambling. This includes red states (AL, ID, KS, MS, WV), blue states (CA, MA, NY, OR, VT) and swing states (MI, NV, NC, PA, WI) supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/2…

Referring to genocide as a “zeitgeist-y issue” is shockingly glib and shows how much “Gaza” remains a perceived leftwing neurosis or boutique hangup to our media class rather than a grave war crime leveled against real humans who’ve lost real loved ones w/ full and complete lives
“While Mamdani has proven his ability to seize and hold the spotlight with zeitgeist-y issues — think affordability, housing and Gaza — he has ceded the spotlight on AI regulation to Menin,” @joeanuta and @reinmann_molly write.

Very amusing that tech bros do not understand why we hate them. Straight face saying, Look you're going to have to accept that everything is going to change to your detriment and my benefit, your jobs your art, all that is going away, and also maybe you're going to die, but that is a price I am willing to let you pay on my behalf because rest assured that I will be good. This is Altman, Andreessen, Sacks, Musk, Lonsdale, Karp, Zuck, it's all of them. And none of them get it. Boot on your neck asking you, Why are you struggling?
