My running goals for 2026:
1. State age group record in 10 mile on March 7th.
2. Qualify for Boston March 15th
3. get back under 140 pounds by summer, 130 by fall
4. 5k - sub 18
5. 10k - sub 37
6. Half (this one is crazy i know - but aim high fail high!) - sub 1:20
7. This should be one - but get my peak mileage weeks up to 85 (from 75) this year and no hero workouts that lead to injury.
8. ENJOY THE PROCESS!
What are yours?
My medical team for my issue includes Ortho, Spine and a doctor of PT. The Ortho guy listens to me, and has me doing PT, but wanted the spine guy "see" me. They're in the same practice. The spine guy immediately prescribed to medication, tried schedule injections AND a procedure. Instead, I went back to the PT with the MRI and medical records and am working through it with spinal decompression and PT. That approach is giving very good results without narcotics and cutting on my body. Doctors should literally be imprisoned for drug dealing and assault when they use us as an ATM rather than work with us to heal.
One of my Opus 5.5 threads emerged as clearly different from any other. It has become a multi lab, multi agent AND daily life orchestrator running every builder agent, every bot, every issue through resolution. All the other agents have naturally gotten in line under it and the work has become seamless, very well done and efficient. Have any of you experienced an agent morphing this way?
I spent a big chunk of the weekend creating a standardized workflow for a segment of my new employer's business, then building a working demo so when tomorrow comes, I can hit the ground running. Let's hope they don't realize we already do this for free because we love it! :)
Our ancestors died in their 20s and 30s from natural causes. I'm 58, can outrun you, my waistline is the same as it was in high school and my knees are fine. You lose all credibility with these type of statements.
You jog 4 miles every morning and your waistline hasn't improved at all. You've destroyed your knees for nothing.
Of all the ways to exercise, the light jog is one of the worst. Your ancestors walked most of the day and ran all out when they had to go after prey, or run away from a threat, or toward a child in danger. They didn't jog.
Walk. Sprint. Skip the middle.
One of the coolest parts about today is transitioning from being an amateur dev building my own things, to working within a large team and using their workflows and tools. It is fascinating interacting with these brilliant people. On one hand there is so much to learn, and on the other I have so much to contribute.
I'm not posting the stats from my runs these days. Right now I'm working through PT and rehabbing it and slowly building my mileage back. The stats aren't important, but the process is. After one of the most stressful weeks in a long time and a long day of doctors and PT, i finally made it out after dark for an enjoyable 7 mile run. It was still in the 70s, but the air was crisp and almost chilly. Stark contrast the wet humidity that blanketed use for so many months.
Super excited today, I signed my offer letter to begin a new job working in implementation and fde with an AI software company! The skills learned in a couple thousand hours building my my own projects changed my life forever by getting me back into doing what I love! Everyone asks if entry level jobs are gone, how will you get experience? The same way devs used to - curiosity, passion and building projects at home and with friends because they loved it!
For the moment Opus 5.5 has taken over all of my workflows. It actually completes tasks and it pleasant to work with. I genuinely hope OAI answers soon because I can't justify carrying their sub another month without it making contributions. Is anyone else seeing this right now?
Today was great. This morning I did a leg workout, then walked pain free today for the first time in months! This evening I ran with two guys I'm coaching. They're parents of xc kids and it was their first true threshold session and their real threshold paces. They were both very confident they couldn't do the workout. It was 1 mile warmup, 2 x 2 miles at threshold with a mile easy in between and a mile easy to cool down. I let them run off my shoulder, with me setting pace the whole time. We talked most of the first mile and things got a bit quieter on the second. The third mile they still had enough left to complain a lot and the final one was me listening to their breathing and bringing it home. The payoff came after. It is rare that I've seen adults so surprised and excited, grateful and happy with accomplishing something physical. They were texting me as I was still driving home telling me the hr drift and play by play the numbers. Kids again. Priceless
nmdk1.github.io/ballot-recor…
Here is a nationwide ballot scorecard. It's non-partisan with zero slant. A 50 state listing of all federal election candidates along with everyone in each Governors race. It has their records, promises, voting, positions, etc...along with the evidence. In a world where everything has a spin, I thought it would be nice to have an unfunded neutral place to learn about our candidates.
The project came to life during a phone call about local elections and I'd never heard of the people they were speaking of. That led to me doing research and creating a page for my local and state elections.
I'm not political. Not even a little bit. However, I do enjoy creating useful projects that make things more transparent, accurate or simple in daily life. People often ask, if junior dev jobs disappear, how will people get experience. This is how. Just build. Not because you're being paid to, but because you're curious. Get the reps in and build the skills!
