The first thing an AGI should do is convince people to stop using markdown and offer a better alternative. If an AGI fails to do this, I won't believe it's actually intelligent.
If there is anything I wish we could replace with AI, that would be drivers... Was on a walk and witnessed a fairly horrible car accident. Head to head impact, car vs bus.
We're heading towards the future where there will be a ton of crappy and even more bloated software (clankers produce bloat way more efficiently than humans). And nobody cares about quality (people never did). This is sad, but we should resist that. It will be harder than ever.
Context is for humans. If you self feed the context from AI output. You just create more AI slop as a result. And most people do that. Typical example, the client itself: pkg.go.dev/github.com/openai…. Big context = big AI slop. (the page is so big, pkg.go.dev struggles)
Btw, I use Arch. I have 6 computers at home running Arch Linux.
1. Main Desktop PC
2. Secondary Desktop PC
3. Home Server
4. AI Server
5. Mini Notebook
6. Big Notebook (runs win11, but arch is in WSL)
(7). Bonus: Steam Deck counts as Arch too.. :)
Jesus...
On AI: Context + Pretrained Data = Result. If you only rely on pretrained data, you produce nothing valuable (we call it AI slop) as everyone has access to that. Context is what matters and produces value.
Been thinking about AI (LLMs) a lot lately. I'm far from being competent in that area, but call it an intuition. We might hit ai capabilities plateau sooner than people expect. And the focus will be shifted to better context management. Better context providers are the future.
Hm, making a simple self hosted notes/todo list app using datastar. Feels surprisingly refreshing after years of having a react frontend mindset.
data-star.dev this lib looks interesting, I didn't quite liked the htmx thingy, but this one popularizes CQRS, which I am a fan of. As well as SSE.
Is there some underground internet where everything is like it was in 2010 and there isn't all this crap that's everywhere now?
I'm a Linux fan, you know me (and look at my avatar). I bought a laptop and couldn't get the sleep mode feature to work. I ended up using the pre-installed Windows 11. As I get older, I like things to "just work."
why is it so fucking hard to do basic file access across network, trying to mount a remote linux dir onto windows machine, it's absurdly hard
Remember I said: teapawt.net/nosmileface/status/200…, it's happening: ladybird.org/posts/changing-…, sure they are polite about it, but the reason is that nobody wants to review AI slop.
Have you tried asking AI to generate nonsense garbage text? It still follows some rules, right? How far can you go in decompositing the structure and creating chaos? LLM is a probability machine, what if you inverse probability?
