BREAKING: A Sri Lankan transgender far left activist avoids jail after bombing a toilet at Melbourne’s Land Forces defence expo. Malith Shamera Fernando, 25, of Blackburn, detonated a homemade incendiary device in the male toilets at the Melbourne Convention Centre on 12 Sept 2024, while people were in nearby cubicles. It created a small fire and $4,600 damage. He scoped the venue the day before using his engineer ticket. Police found 28 more homemade devices at his home, plus cannabis trafficking, ketamine and other drugs. Protest material about “Free Palestine” and “disrupt Melbourne” was also recovered. He pleaded guilty. The prosecution demanded jail but soft on migrant crime Magistrate Donna Bakos gave him a Community Corrections Order, therapy and drug programs, and told him to pay the $4,600. Why he avoided jail time? Because prison would be “more onerous” due to his mental health diagnoses and gender status. So a biological male who planted a bomb at a defence expo, stockpiled more explosives, and dealt drugs walks free, because the judge decided jail might be too hard for him. The most recent figures available are for 2024 and male suicides reached 2,529. What had been a gradual rise over several years accelerated dramatically in just 12 months, yet the response was silence. Let's put this in perspective-in 2013, the Australian death by suicide total, both men and women combined, was 2,455. In 2024, male suicides alone hit 2,529, whilst women accounted for 778 deaths by suicide. In just over a decade, the number of men dying by suicide has exceeded the total national figure from 2013. Men continue to account for roughly three-quarters of all suicides in Australia. At the current pace, without a major shift in approach, we risk seeing the numbers rise higher and higher. This is clearly something which is affecting Australian men, the family courts put them through hell, false allegations they are forced to argue or fight in court, work and financial stress, constantly being labelled "toxic", or misogynists, when most of the time they are just doing what men are meant to do. Provide for their family, keep everyone in line, and be the masculine men they were always meant to be. Traditional gender roles have been pushed aside and our men feel lost in modern society. These figures are proof of that, something needs to change.
