Today, the UN debate on the resolution to end the U.S. blockade on Cuba began. Already a majority of countries have spoken on the brutality of the U.S. blockade, its consequences on the Cuban people, and its illegality under international law. While the U.S. government spreads outright lies about its own policy, which blocks Cuba from making financial transactions and prevents essential medicine, food, and energy from reaching the Cuban people, it simultaneously continues to threaten the island with intervention and war.

On October 28, the UN will vote on a resolution to end the US blockade on Cuba for the 34th time. Nearly every year Cuba has brought this non-binding resolution to a vote, the US and the Israeli occupation have been the only UN members in the world to vote against it.
