This is a really disappointing and disrespectful shot at a New Jersey fanbase and market that is ultra passionate, fills the building on a nightly basis, and supports this team. The crying and complaining out of Canada over this whole thing has been shocking. Please conveniently forget about Larking and Edvinsson asking out of Detroit, an American city. Werenksi and Marchenko asking out of Columbus, an American city. You guys bring up how people care more about the Yankees, Giants, Knicks... All things Winnipeg and most Canadian cities do not have. The Winnipeg Metro area has 865,000 people. The NY Metro area has 20+ million. Sorry we have two football, two basketball, two baseball, three hockey, two MLS, a WNBA, NWSL, and PWHL team. 14 professional sports teams. Winnipeg is the smallest market in the NHL and the 31st most valuable franchise in the NHL compared to the Devils at 9th. I'm 39 years old and the Devils have meant everything to me for my entire life. That goes the same for a lot of people. There is a reason Winnipeg is on everyone's no trade list... and shows up at the top of those anonymous player polls. Fact is, the spotlight is ultra focused there because of the much smaller community... and yes I know WPG has baseball and football but if we're talking about top leagues, there's one game in town there. In NJ and the NY Metro, what you claim is "no one caring" is actually a population of more than 20 times that market, 14 pro sports teams, and less of a personal spotlight while the players and their families can enjoy some of the wealthiest/safest suburbs in the country, some of the best schools in the country for their kids, and access to NYC which is the cultural and financial hub of the entire world. Lastly, the players can't control the questions the media asks. In fact, Connor Hellebuyck every chance he gets declines to say anything or answer any questions that would put down the city of Winnipeg or the fans... and if Cheveldayoff honored his trade request (trade requests happen all the time in the NHL) when it was amicable and not public... things would never have gotten this crazy. I listen to your show all the time... Hayes... do better.
