A while back, Jackie walked out the Mission's front doors and disappeared. He'd gone on a drinking binge.
Today, he is sober. He has a job. Soon, he'll have a home.
Hear him tell his story at the Mission of Hope Banquet on Nov. 12th! Tickets at

6th graders, 7th graders, and 8th graders can be fierce rivals. Last week at Schroeder Middle School, that took a back seat to kindness. โค๏ธ
Students from each grade worked together to collect this big pile of food for families in need. Thank you so much! ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ฆ

Last week, our van broke down. Total loss.. Two days later, we got a call.
The old RRVCA van needed a new home. They didn't even know ours was broken!
Now there will be no delay in services. That means more food donations getting to the pantry and into the hands of families. โค๏ธ
Folks at the Mission got a special treat yesterday - all the Deeks Pizza they could eat! ๐ The pies were generously donated by Trina, Deek's assistant GM. She was in a position to give back and felt that it was important to do so. โค
Thank you, Trina and Connie for serving!

Thinking about a guy who stayed here named Jackson. He always wanted to be a nurse. Any chance to help someone else gave him a real spark. But he couldn't stay sober.
Jackson started attending the weekly support group here. 1/5
Imagine if that relapse happened, but Jackson had no one and nothing to pick him back up? THAT's why this work matters so much.
So grateful for the donors, volunteers, business and faith leaders who make it possible. Best wishes to Jackson in his recovery. โค 4/5
But then he relapsed.
And now is the most interesting part. Because of his new connections and the that others offered him...that relapse was just a temporary setback.
Jackson got sober again. Before long, he was hired as a nursing assistant at a local care facility. 3/5
He shared his story, and he listened to others share theirs. He learned some healthy coping skills to manage his addiction.
All of it motivated him so much that he completed a full residential treatment program, got sober, and passed the Certified Nursing Assistant exam. 2/5

When Danny came to the shelter, he was struggling with alcoholism. His drinking had taken complete control of his life.
Thanks to partners like the @OtterTailPwrCo Foundation, he's able to attend free meetings with a licensed addiction counselor while staying here!
The Rally for Recovery is tomorrow evening in Town Square! This event is open to all, and it's about supporting people in our community who are recovering from addiction. ๐ช
We'll be there with some info about the addiction support program at the Mission.
We are completely out of shampoo and conditioner!

The @UNDfootball team is preparing for a big #homecoming game against Murray State on Saturday. BUT, players still found time to serve meals to some folks in need. โค๏ธ
Thank you to Matt, Javance, and Kefa for giving back. Best of luck at the game! #communitykindness #undproud
HAVE to do a little appreciation post for Mudbucket, one of our great local bands. They've shown up for us for years, giving their time and talents to entertain others. And they've done it with considerable grace and thoughtfulness. Thank you, Rich McGurran and Mudbucket!๐
Now this young man has a safe place to stay and a new friend too! Thank you to Michael for making him feel less alone in a difficult time. ๐โค 3/3
