It seems that Mbappé didn't really have particularly malicious intent—he simply lacks basic knowledge of Chinese history. Frankly, under the brainwashing of Western media propaganda, most Westerners share this level of understanding about China, especially those with lower levels of education.
But many Chinese brands have already terminated their commercial contracts with him, and everything is now irreversible. Even if he feels he's been wronged, even if he thinks the Chinese are making too big a deal out of it, in the international community it's might that makes right, and in the business world it's the client who calls the shots. I hope Mbappé's case will prompt other Western celebrities to learn something about China more quickly—especially those who have commercial partnerships with China. I believe they will.

Ein Elektroauto von VW für gerade einmal 10.600 €? In Deutschland mittlerweile fast unvorstellbar!

Reuters says China’s AI bubble has already burst.
Good.
A bubble bursting is not the same thing as an industry failing.
China’s AI-heavy STAR50 has fallen about 40% from its July peak, wiping out roughly $480 billion in market value, while valuations are being forced back toward reality.
That hurts speculators.
It may also save the industry from something worse.
The real danger is not an AI stock falling 40%.
The real danger is letting absurd valuations grow until they become entangled with debt, leverage, corporate financing, index concentration and the wider financial system.
2008 did not become a catastrophe because house prices fell.
It became a catastrophe because the bubble had already infected the plumbing.
Better to puncture an AI valuation bubble now than discover later that the entire economy has been built on the assumption that every AI company deserves a trillion-dollar valuation.
Sometimes a crash is destruction.
Sometimes it is drainage.

Hinzu kommen teilweise dreimal niedrigere Strompreise!

Good Morning from Germany, where Mercedes is also being hit hard by the China shock. It joins BMW & VW in cutting its outlook, now targeting a car margin of just 2–3%, vs up to 5% before. Shares tumble 5.4%, taking this year’s loss to more than a third. Germany’s Big Three are now worth just €106bn combined. Tesla alone is worth €1.4tn, more than 13 times as much. China, once their profit engine, has become a major liability.

In our apartment in China 🇨🇳, my slippers are allowed to travel almost anywhere.
Except outside the front door.
And if they do venture into the corridor, they must be cleaned before being permitted back inside.
My Chinese wife takes border security very seriously.
Let me explain.
Like many Chinese households, ours has a strict division between outdoor shoes and indoor slippers.
Fair enough. Nobody wants to bring the dirt from the streets into their home.
But our apartment is on the eighteenth floor, and there's a communal corridor leading to the lifts.
Surely, you might think, stepping into that corridor in your slippers wouldn't cause much trouble?
You would be wrong.
According to my wife, the moment those slippers cross the threshold, their soles become contaminated.
Before they can return to normal domestic duties, they must be wiped clean.
I've occasionally wondered whether the slippers themselves appreciate the distinction. After all, they've travelled only a few metres across a tiled floor.
But today I received a rather illuminating lesson in why my wife takes these matters so seriously.
When I returned from work, she was complaining about the community ayi, the cleaner responsible for mopping the communal area by the lifts.
Apparently, the ayi wasn't cleaning the floor at all.
She was simply swishing an already dirty mop around, redistributing the dirt rather than removing it.
My wife was not impressed.
In fact, she'd become so annoyed that she went and cleaned the area herself.
And then complained to the management company about the standard of cleaning.
I began to understand why my slippers were regarded with such suspicion.
That innocent-looking tiled corridor was apparently a hazardous border crossing.
And the official responsible for keeping it clean had failed her inspection.
Now, I have no particular objection to keeping our apartment clean. Quite the opposite.
But I do find the whole business of slipper border controls rather amusing.
In Britain, I don't remember worrying about whether my slippers had crossed an invisible line between domestic cleanliness and communal contamination.
Here, the distinction is apparently very important.
And I've learned that arguing about the cleanliness of slipper soles with my wife is rather like arguing with airport security.
You may believe you're making a perfectly reasonable point, but you're not getting through until you've complied.
So I remove my outdoor shoes, wear my indoor slippers, and wipe their soles whenever they've been on an unauthorised excursion.
Domestic peace is a wonderful thing.
Although I suspect the slippers are beginning to feel rather oppressed.
So, readers, does your household have similar rules about indoor slippers?
And would you trust a communal floor that had just been cleaned with an already dirty mop?

Honestly, this is so bizarre.
The US War Department officially labels Confucius Institutes — just simple cultural and language exchange centers — as a national security threat.
How fragile can a country’s security be if it cannot even tolerate a peaceful cultural institution?
It’s weird enough that a military defense agency is targeting civilian cultural programs.
Meanwhile, look at China’s attitude.
During President Xi’s US visit, China openly announced it will invite 100,000 American teenagers to study, travel, and experience China over the next five years.
China chooses openness, people-to-people exchange, trust, and youth friendship.
But the US keeps blocking basic cultural communication, overreacting wildly, and weaponizing ideology.
One side opens its arms to young Americans.
The other side fears language and culture exchange.
The contrast couldn’t be clearer.

🇫🇷 Macron BLAMES social media for drawing young people into the October 17 riots
Speaking in Marseille, he said platforms directed young people toward hotspots where attacks, looting, and robberies were taking place.
He also called social media a broader threat to democracy.
Blaming the apps is easier than explaining why so many showed up ready to smash things in the first place.

The contrast in the G2 era: one side instigates wars and wreaks destruction, while the other repairs infrastructure and fosters development.
The US spent 20 years fighting in Afghanistan, poured in trillions, and left in 2021 with the Taliban back in power.
Now, China is sending a dedicated freight train from Shandong to Hairatan, carrying Chinese goods through Central Asia to Afghanistan.
One chapter was defined by war, occupation, and a costly collapse. The other is about trade routes, logistics, and economic connectivity.

So inspiring! 💥
Halimulati, a young man from Xinjiang, used to be a swimming coach. He started selling Xinjiang pilaf from a street stall in Hangzhou this January.
His business boomed, with daily sales hitting 10,000 yuan.
Just three months into his stall venture, his incredibly delicious food caught the eye of Alibaba executives, who invited him to open at the Alibaba campus cafeteria.
To be recognized by one of the top tech giants — truly, talented people shine wherever they go. 👍
